    Which external hard drive

Thanks for the info. I am thinking about the SEAGATE ST900803FGD1E1-RK 80GB on the pcworld website, £56.99 Would i be right in thinking 80Gb is more than enough for backing up text files and the odd photo here and there, i dont see the point in getting a 300Gb drive that just isn't going...

    Concrete type.

I have a project to complete for a customer, part of which is to build a metal ring tank with rubber membrane liner. The tank is large 24' diameter and will hold 125,000 litres of water. As i understand it that equates to 125 metric tonnes. Is there a very particular type of concrete...

    Van contract hire.

Thanks JohnD, i think we will go with contract hire. Apparently it is 100% tax deductable, also there isn't a great importance at this stage to have assets on the books like a van etc. I take on board what you say about signwriting and zinc plated steel, thanks again.

    Van contract hire.

First apologies for a second van post, however this is a specific question. On Monday i will be starting to get prices for a contract hire van and pickup. Can anyone recommend a good firm to deal with ? (we are based in Yorkshire), having been on the web there are thousands after our...

    What van deal and insurance.

It is the zero no claims that pushes it up i think & that was a quote on a 3.5 tonne Movano LWB with 2.5 engine.

    What van deal and insurance.

Just had a quick look at eBay. LWB Nissan Interstar would be the type of size we need. Been told to stay away from Transit (its a long time since i drove a transit) Vauxhall Movano i have used alot and were ok, Renault or Merc still appear to have a good name. A mechanic friend told be...

    What van deal and insurance.

Thanks Thermo, Yes i agree, contract hire is the one i'm thinking of. We will be clocking in the order of 25k a year, i remember my previous employer's getting their fingers burnt by under estimating the annual milage. Not a mistake i intend to make.

    What van deal and insurance.

Thermo, Yes, we will be VAT registered from the start. We intend to grow quite quickly and may have 4-5 vehicles on the road within a couple of years. I have been thinking about a fleet insurance, although that may be a bit to far at this stage ? I have got a quote from...

    What van deal and insurance.

Lease appears to be the way to go, i didn't really think buying was the right choice at this stage. I will be checking that insurance out. Thanks for that Dave.

    What van deal and insurance.

My business partner and i are starting our Ltd company in September and are looking at vans and the various insurance etc. The van is going to be a 3.5 tonne panel van, maybe a Vauxhall Movano or similar. The van will probably be lease hire, so maybe the insurance will be included. That...

Is This Damp? If So, What Kind?

Quite right, i never gave that a thought. It would certainly be a better option than the rather hit and miss drill/inject idea. chuckalicious, i would certainly proceed with the gravel idea however, it is a simple job you can do yourself the only real cost to you is the gravel and a bit of...

Is This Damp? If So, What Kind?

There appears to be a strip of concrete at the foot of the wall next to the slabs, maybe 4-6 inches wide. I would knock that out and lay 20mm gravel at a depth of 6 inches all the way along the wall/slabs to the end. This will act as a french drain carrying water away, if DPC is bridged...

    Masionery Paint

I have just painted my newly built garage with Leyland smooth masonary paint, 3 number 5 litre cans. Total price £ 45.00 I used a 4 inch paste type brush, however i have been told a roller would have done the job with less paint. Not to bothered really as i think more paint on the bare render...

Point me in the right direction

Mix your sand/cement 4 : 1 or 5 : 1 if you require a more sandy finish. You will find it easier to mix the compo dry in a barrow before adding water, if the compo drys up a bit in the barrow as you are working, knock it up a bit with some more water. Use a good size brick trowel and a...
