lifting a "middle section" of laminate flooring

Thanks for the reply. I think I would rather spend an afternoon lifting a couple of metres of laminate than have the visible hatch. I just don't want to go to all the trouble and then have someone more clued up than I am tell me how I could have done the job in ten minutes with a fishing line...

lifting a "middle section" of laminate flooring

I need to access pipes which run under the floor at the threshold. The problem is that this would involve lifting a "middle section" of the laminate. ( the short edges of the board are parallel with the threshold) This laminate has the usual interlocking edges which are presumably designed to...

    cement screed drying time

I have screeded a concrete floor prior to tiling. Do I need to wait before tiling on top of it?

intermittent shower fault on mira shower

I fitted a mira azora shower less than a year ago and it has now developed a fault. Sometimes it only delivers cold water but "fiddling" with the controls can coax it to work.( Though whether it is the fiddling or the time passing that gives the result, I don't know) Does this symptom indicate...

    WJD 1257W Drum jammed

Thank you, captaincaveman1. I'll persevere for the moment but good to know that if no success by washday, the nuclear option is feasible! :-)

how much damp rises through a concrete slab

Well, concrete isn't waterproof! That is why you can buy DPM - and people sell a lot of it! :)

    WJD 1257W Drum jammed

Not so far! Just wondering whether to persist in looking or bit the bullet and strip it down. But someone reckons that manufacturer are getting wise to people fixing stuff and starting to weld the outer drums! Thanks for the input. :)

how much damp rises through a concrete slab

Absolutely! Damp will go through concrete with no problem at all! Why one earth would anyone go to all that trouble and not " be bothered" to spend a few quid on a DPM? Is this a joke - or a test?

    WJD 1257W Drum jammed

Hi Something which sounds unpleasantly metallic is jamming the drum of my Zanussi WJD washing machine. I can rotate the drum by hand with effort but get awful screeching sounds! Is it possible to remove the drum to split it and remove whatever the object is. I gather that not all machines...

    induction hob installation

I am planning on installing an induction hob into the work surface above an appliance ( probably the fridge) but someone has told me they induce heat in nearby metal. A hob they know of made cutlery, in a drawer below it, grow warm. Any one know what the limitations are on siting these kind of...

    Internal solid wall celotex installation

Would you not be better treating the job as making a timber frame inside the existing walls? Using 100mm x 50mm to make a free standing framework which can then be fixed to the existing brick work with galvanised angle brackets. Then the celotex fits inside the framing and plasterboard is fixed...

Can anyone advise on the fitting of under-cabinet lights. Never had success in the past but then I did buy bargains from IKEA ! Be happy to spend some money this time but should I go for mains or low voltage, halogen or LED .... etc Anyone recommend a system or manufacturer, that will give...

So it sounds as if the elements are faulty. Maybe just renewing the elements would be best practice?

    Neff oven fault

A friend has asked me about a fault on her ( 20 year old ) Neff Oven. It switches on OK and then after about 60 seconds or so it trips the rcd at the consumer unit. The odd thing ( to me anyway) is how consistent the time is. It always switches on and always trips after a very short period of...

Yep , the plug gets warm on the 110 socket too. Curiouser and curiouser. Apparently, MK have a technical hot line so I'll see what they say.
