Combi Boiler and Pump: rate of radiator heating

Thanks Muggles. I have a radiator as shown below in a relatively small 9 sqm room with the radiator below: https://www.radiatoroutlet.co.uk/1800-x-470mm-white-vertical-traditional-3-column-radiator My system uses the Greenstar 30i combi boiler...

Combi Boiler and Pump: rate of radiator heating

With regards to the Worcester Bosch Greenstar 30i Gas Combi Boiler below, the description states that it has "a low energy pump to reduce electrical usage". https://www.boilerguide.co.uk/productinfo/worcester-bosch/greenstar-30i So this, presumably, is an internal pump as opposed to using an...

Would air in radiator impact output of other rads?

On the back of the rad at the top there is a small black square slightly raised from the surface. It seems like a black coloured square of plastic - perhaps this might be a lid? I'll look for a small screwdriver to see if I can prise this off.

Would air in radiator impact output of other rads?

I've attached a photo of both ends of the top of the rad. I've tried a standard bleed key in both, but there doesn't appear to be a valve there to turn. The 2nd photo is especially blurry as it's very tight to the wall and I just got my phone in between it and the wall.

Would air in radiator impact output of other rads?

There's a small single panel radiator in a small box room which heats up in the bottom 2/3 of the rad but not the top 1/3. I presume this is due to air in the rad. I would guess the rad dates from the 1980s, and unfortunately there is not valve at the top of it from which to release air within...

Lock slot on side of doors

Would it be a relatively simple (and inexpensive?) job for a joiner to place a section of timber into the lock slot on the side of a couple of old doors so that a rim lock could instead be placed on the doors?

K Type Thermocouple Thermometer Probe for Rad heat drop

If using a K-type thermocouple thermometer probe to measure radiator heat drop (pictured below), the probe is normally placed onto the copper pipe at each end. What should be done if plastic piping has been used, and a metal shroud placed over the plastic piping between each valve and the...

    Adequate radiator for living room?

So I tried this again yesterday evening as it was only 4C outside, so it was a good opportunity to get an idea as to how high a temperature can be achieved in this 9 sq m room with the following 2.4 kW column radiator and 30i Worcester Bosch combi boiler...

    Adequate radiator for living room?

The living room in question is relatively small at just 2.90 m x 3.14 m. I am using a WB 30i combi boiler: https://www.screwfix.com/p/worcester-bosch-greenstar-30i-gas-combi-boiler/7091h with one of these vertical rads in the room (2411 W), and a TRV fitted...

    Adequate radiator for living room?

Here, are you referring to the temperature of the heating system as stated on the boiler? If so, what temperature would you be looking to see on the boiler with regards to the heating system?

    Adequate radiator for living room?

Do you mean using the online calculators where the dimensions of the room are input? If so, I have used them in the past and they provide varied outputs depending upon which website is used.

    Adequate radiator for living room?

What temperature would you want a radiator to allow a living room to be able to get up to when the rad and boiler is set to max? That is, in order to allow for exceptionally cold evenings/nights. For example, I set the boiler to max (stated 85.5 degrees on boiler for heating system) and turned...

Putting Combi Boiler in brick shed

Once these two products are fitted, would this avoid the need to insulate the internal walls/ceiling of the small brick shed with a suitable heat-insulating foam slab?

Putting Combi Boiler in brick shed

I had considered placing a suitable heat-insulating foam slab on the internal walls and underside of roof of the brick shed, would these products linked-to above mean that insulating the brick shed in this manner would not be necessary? Or perhaps, once the shed is suitably insulated with a...

Putting Combi Boiler in brick shed

Are these separate products which are added when the boiler is being installed? They don't come as part of the boiler - is that correct? Are these stats determining when the temperature in the vicinity of the boiler has dropped below freezing and then providing heat to the boiler?

Putting Combi Boiler in brick shed

Do you have the brick outhouse walls insulated with a heat-insulating foam slab, or the roof heat insulated?

Putting Combi Boiler in brick shed

That's interesting, hadn't heard of this before. So it appears to be a heater (presumably with a standard 3-pin electrical plug) which only comes on when the temp falls to a specified temperature. Interesting...

Putting Combi Boiler in brick shed

What would be entailed in this? For example would warmth insulation foam slab to attached to the ceiling and then perhaps a corrugated iron be placed over this to cover it. The reason I mention corrugated iron as this is currently what is on the underside of the concrete roof. I wonder how the...

Putting Combi Boiler in brick shed

Thanks Registered Gas Man. So is the frost and pipe thermostat already in-built into the two biggest brands of boiler? What is Friday protection? Would the boiler require additional fire protection, and if so, what would this entail?
