Baxi Solo 3 70PF Burner problem

I have just removed the combustion box door to test the pressure switch and found that the burner no longer switches on and off at 3 second intervals until I put the door back on??

Baxi Solo 3 70PF Burner problem

I have just fitted a new fan to my Baxi Solo 3 70PF. That now works OK, but the burner (and indicator light) switch on and off at about 3 second intervals. Could this be a faulty pressure switch? I have fitted a new pair of sensor tubes which don't have any kinks in them. Any other...

    Feather edge board fencing

I am about to replace the old 6' high x 30 meter long feather edge board fence that I errected just over 20 years ago with a similar one. I made the original fence from 6" wide x 1" (at the thick end) feather boards, but I can't seem to get that size anywhere now (not even from the place...

Hot water boiler repair / replacement

I have seperate boilers for heating & water, which I prefer in times of trouble, & the central heating boiler was replaced a few years ago. The hot water boiler is a Main Medway Automatic and is at least 22 years old. It has been trouble free up till now. Recently I have noticed drips of...

Baxi Solo 3 PF boiler / pump problem

New pump fitted and everything is working perfectly. No more overheat cut outs & upstairs radiators are getting hotter than they have in a long time, so I guess the pump has been dodgy for a while. Thanks to all who helped Keith

Baxi Solo 3 PF boiler / pump problem

Once again thanks to you all for your time. I am sure that the pump is wired correctly as it has worked ok for years. It's easy to see both ends of the connections as the boiler is in a cellar & the pump is along side (so everything is easily accessible) I think a new pump is my next...

Baxi Solo 3 PF boiler / pump problem

Thanks to you all for your help & suggestions. After a few more tests this morning based on your suggestions, this is what happened. Connected lamp holder & bulb to pump connections (good idea) Boiler isolator switched on & boiler thermostat set to zero. Light bulb is on & pump is...

    changing a radiator

The simple answer to your question is yes. If you are going to do as you suggest rather than drain the system, make sure you have a bucket and cloths handy (and carpet rolled back) or big thumbs to block each end fitting as you lift the full radiator off the wall brackets and away from the...

Baxi Solo 3 PF boiler / pump problem

Yes, I am saying that when the boiler gets up to temperature and the burner stops, the pump also stops even though there is still 240v at the pump terminal. You can insult my intelligence as much as you like if it helps to sort the problem. I am checking the voltage by attaching my volt meter...

Baxi Solo 3 PF boiler / pump problem

Thanks for your help Dave, but now I'm totally confused. I have re-connected pump to boiler along with a volt meter. Switched potentiometer to zero (so not calling for heat) There is 240v at pump terminal and pump runs. Switch pot' up to setting 2 & burner lights, pump is still running...

Baxi Solo 3 PF boiler / pump problem

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have done as you suggested & put a plug top on the pump and it runs ok (although it did take a couple of seconds to start up, but then ran continuously) So do you think it is likely to be something on the PCB? A new PCB was fitted 2 years ago, but...

Baxi Solo 3 PF boiler / pump problem

I am having trouble getting the boiler / pump to remain on long enough to deliver hot water to all of the radiators. The pump switches off when the boiler switches off (I might be wrong, but I thought that the pump remained on for a while after boiler switched off to continue circulating the...

Bosch Dishwasher - REALLY HOT 8 hours after cycle finished!

I found the problem on my machine this weekend. Where the outlet hose joins the waste under the sink had a blockage, so luckily it was an easy fix & the machine has been tested several times since and works fine. Like the original poster, dishes in my machine were very hot next morning...

Dyson DC14 Good to not so good

No, it was a DC07, but I assumed the DC14 would have the same flexible tube. Glad it's been modified, but sorry it wont help original poster. Keith

Dyson DC14 Good to not so good

When suction was reduced on my Dyson, it was the short length of flexible plastic tube on the underside of the machine that had split. I think that this is the most likely reason for your problem. A temporary repair can be done with gaffer tape, or a new piece of tube is about £10 Keith

Bosch Dishwasher - REALLY HOT 8 hours after cycle finished!

I have just had exactly the same condition, with the same machine, and was about to post on here for advice. Mine also left the machine full of soapy water after the cycle had finished, so I guess it's not emptying between wash & rinse cycles. I have checked the filters in the bottom of...

    Pressure Reducing Valves

In a new bathroom installation, I am fitting a bath mixer & a thermostatic shower. According to the instructions, both of these work best with a reasonably balanced hot & cold pressure, (which might account for the temperature problems encountered with the old Aqualisa shower) I have 7...

Marine Ply / Exterior Ply. What's the difference?

I am building a raised plinth to sit a shower tray on. The instructions say to use Marine ply as the top board. I can only find Exterior ply in places like B&Q. Is that the same? Is 1/2" thick enough or should I go to 3/4"
