    False Ceiling studwork

Cheers Noseall. I plan on doing myself with a couple of builders props hence the 1800mm boards. Do you not like the idea of putting the 1800mm length short ways cut to 1675mm ? Then there would be no joins to stagger. Understand about not obeying the centering so the boards are...

    False Ceiling studwork

Hi, I'm putting a false ceiling in up my bathroom. I've bought 4x2s to do the frame. After ripping out some existing studwalls and finding 2x2s used I'm wondering if 4x2's are overkill or even too heavy for the ceiling? The room is 2250 x 1650. I'm using plasterboard at 1800x900...

    Extractor vent location.

Cheers. Yeah, I can imagine condensation running along the ducting and dripping all over the place. Going through the roof is not ideal as I plan to add Dormers sooner rather than later. There is no easy option it seems......

    Extractor vent location.

I like the sound of this SNM. Are these fans any good? http://www.justfans.co.uk/auto-shutter-100mm-p-656.html Then flexi ducting to round/rectangle adaptor, - rectangle flat channel up the wall. - another adaptor to flexi ducting then one of these -...

    Extractor vent location.

The core vent and lining part seem to all be 5" (like in the link). Yet ducting & fans are 100mm I'll look into both those points. Cheers!

    Extractor vent location.

Hi, Back again. Looking around at fans and vents it seems 100mm fans and ducting are standard and 5" vents are standard. http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Roofing%20&%20Drainage/Roofline%20&%20Ventilation/5%22%20Core%20Drill%20Vent%20Kit%20/d250/sd2747/p89675 Is the norm. to use a...

    Extractor vent location.

Hi, I plan on getting a spark in to do some work soon. Looking for opinions. I'm going to get an extractor and downlights fitted in a false ceiling I'll fit in the below bathroom. I plan on dropping the ceiling to just above the window so there will be a void of about 700mm...

    Fitting a bath against/under plasterboard.

I read somehwere that aqua panel and the like are not supposed to be dot & dabbed. That's why I decided to go for normal plasterboard and the tanking. Is there a Tile backer suitable for Dot & Dabbing? It's a brick wall and I don't have room to stud it out. Bad idea?

    Fitting a bath against/under plasterboard.

Good shout! It's the long end that's my problem with the brick wall. I'll talk the missus into the old fashioned place to put the taps! Is putting the plasterboard on the bath not as daft as it sounds? My plan would be - fit the bath to the wall Dot and dab plastreboard (then...

    Fitting a bath against/under plasterboard.

Hi, I'll be fitting a bath in a couple of weeks and have a couple of questions. The bath will be against 1 stud wall and 1 brick wall. I plan on plasterboarding, tanking and tiling these 2 walls. The brick wall is plastered and I would like to overboard this wall to save the hassle of...

Cheers! Yeah, some are really bad. It's funny, you don't notice it much until you start studying them. I think I'll get estimates for 2 variations of the front. 2 smaller Hip dormers & The larger Bay dormer and a Velux. When I have the drawings done I'll post again. cheers for the...

As I said. It's a real mixed bag. This is the worst, I've seen: Shocker. I think the ones above the Bay windows look ok. Do you know if they would be considerably more expensive than the Hip type?

Cheers It's hard to know what I'll get away with. The surrounding streets are a real mixed bag. I've attached some images. I'm pretty sure I'd get away with 2 Hips at the front like in the first pic. The Dormers above the Bay window would give a lot more room. Would there be a big...
