    Those damn cracks!

What is the best fix for hairline cracks appearing in newly plastered wall and ceilings? I painted some new ceilings in Polycell crack free ceiling paint (three coats after two mist coats) and lo and behold six months later a crack appears :(

    Project - Marble.

Thanks tpt! A couple more things if I may now that you have got me started  Any particular colours to be avoided? I quite fancy black and white together! Will they need sealing? I think a polished look is what we want to go for. And anything else that you think may be relevant???

If Porcelain is tougher how thick will it be? The Marble was 12mm.

    Project - Marble.

Well you guys have certainly given me something to think about. Thanks I think  I always thought Marble would be very hard wearing due to its price and the locations you find it in - Hotel lobbies etc?

    Project - Marble.

It has to be some form of tile and Marble does look the best. I know it will be cold but the house was built in 1913 so should have an adequate damp course. What should I seal the bichumen with or can I go straight ahead with the self levelling latex?

    Project - Marble.

Hi can anyone offer me some advice and guidance on a new project I am about to undertake? I recently took up an old parkuet floor in the hope of restoring the old Victorian quarry tiles underneath. The parquet was fixed down with bitumen, 95% of which I have now scraped up over 2 days of...

    Making good on glossed paint

Hi guys, advice if you please :) I am repainting the staircase in my house (built 1913) and after removing some old telephone wire I started peeling away the top layer of gloss that had built up around it. Like an itch I had to scratch I peeled this top layer away to reveal an old green...

Secondary glazing for stained glass window and door

Cheers this is what I had in mind originally, although a chap came and repaired a couple of panes and told me that the lead did need ventilation. Obviously if you vent them on the inside you lose your insulation which is not much good! I have ordered some 4mm plate poly with a framing...

Secondary glazing for stained glass window and door

Hi guys, I am looking to replace the existing glass panes that act as secondary glazing to the stained glass leaded windows and door in my house. Currently they are fixed with edging and plastic clips, both worn and yellowed. Can anyone recommend a particular system they have used? I...

    Dulux Endurance patchy finish.

Well guys the 10% water mix did the trick! A much better finish and I will keep this in mind for the future :D

    Dulux Endurance patchy finish.

Thanks. I spoke to the people at Dulux and they recommended adding 10% water to the next coat. Or buy a new paint called flat matt! As if, after spending £100 on Endurance

    Dulux Endurance patchy finish.

I will give it a few days to check. I think it may have been my technique with the roller along with too much ventilation. Will buy a couple of new sleeves and try again next weekend.

    Dulux Endurance patchy finish.

Pretty sure its not the plaster at fault.

    Dulux Endurance patchy finish.

Ok thanks, but try the 4th coat first ensuring I work fast and with the windows shut etc before going the gardz route?

    Dulux Endurance patchy finish.

Hi guys after a weekend of painting I am feeling rather dismayed, hopefully someone can help. I have searched for the answer already but have not come across my exact situation. I am painting a large hallway with an open staircase and a 5m high stair wall. The walls were plastered over...
