Secure Roll Top Bath to Floor

yes it is very light, so when empty it is very easy to move. I'm not sure about cutting sections of the tiles as the tiles are obviously fixed to the floor so it would probably end up having to break it out with a hammer and chisel, which would then risk damaging the surrounding tiles

    Idea for cooling loft

Hi. I've got quite a useful loft space that makes quite a good workshop. The problem is that as most lofts do, it gets very hot up there in the summer time. The roof is not insulated which I'm sure would make a big difference however I can't afford to do that. I'm thinking about whether I could...

Wall plug in wall with really thick plaster

Thanks for the replies everyone. Final additional question - should the top of the wall plug (the open end) be flush with the surface of the tile or should it be sunk in a little bit so that it is flush with the level of the plaster? Cheers

    Asbestos survey needed?

Hi I'm buying a 1930s semi detached house which I plan to do some building work on. I'm wondering whether it would be wise to get an asbestos survey before buying the house. However the house has a conservatory that was built around 10 years ago which would have involved removing an external...

Should I leave a gap below skirting board for carpet?

Thanks Gregers and Happyplumber - I'll fit the skirting so its touching the floorboards then. Just a follow up - I found this other thread on here, which basically gives the same answer but also says the bottom of the skirting board should be siliconed to the floorboards. I've never heard of...

Should I leave a gap below skirting board for carpet?

Hi I'm shortly going to be fitting skirting board in a room which currently just has exposed floorboards but in which I will be getting carpet fitted. Should I fit the skirting board so that the bottom of the skirting board is in contact with the floor boards or should I leave a gap that carpet...

    Aluminium Marked by Caustic Soda

Footprints - that sounds pretty worrying. The caustic soda was probably on there for at least half an hour so you reckon that would have taken the anodized outer layer off? So if it is made of anodized aluminium does that mean that it probably isn't lacquered then? And if so presumably my idea...

    Aluminium Marked by Caustic Soda

thanks jj4091. Having been googling it for the last little while, I know wonder if the shower is made from lacquered aluminium and whether the marks are due to the caustic soda taking the lacquer off. If that is the case then I wonder if I should buy some metal lacquer to put on it? Any...

    Aluminium Marked by Caustic Soda

thanks Crystalclear. What sort of wheel cleaner would I be looking for? Do you mean like the stuff used for cleaning allow wheels on cars? cheers

    Aluminium Marked by Caustic Soda

Hi I used caustic soda to clear a slow draining shower. When I did this, it spat out of the plug hole and went on the shower enclosure metal parts (I assume aluminium). This has left the metal marked - I've attached a photo - it was hard to get it to come out on camera but its very noticeable...

Prepare wood floor for to be painted black

Hi I've got a wooden floor in the dining room, I've removed the carpet as I want exposed floor boards. I am going to replace about 5 of the floor boards as they have been well and truly ruined by carelessly lifting them to fit radiator pipes etc. Because I'm replacing boards, I don't want to...
