Heavy duty mesh covered door seal

Sorry, didn't take one at the time. I figured it would be easy to find (really should know better :giggle: ). Will get a photo on next visit if needs be. Construction is a bit unusual for a domestic door - it seems to be steel sheet on a timber frame. No - not that. Since found something...

Heavy duty mesh covered door seal

A wheelchair bound friend of mine has a front door frame that tends to get hit with the wheelchair from time to time. Sticky backed foam draught seal won't last long and the current strip of it is dropping off - but I notice on the top and the hinge side of the door, what I assume is the...

Stuart turner monsoon shower pump not turning off...

True. It's odd, I was just reading the troubleshooting bit of the guide and it does actually list the pressure vessel in the pump staying on/hunting section, so maybe I am missing something! I was having a rummage around to see if I could find those silicone washers referred to earlier in the...

Stuart turner monsoon shower pump not turning off...

@oldbuffer Not used a negative head pump before but I thought the pressure vessel was just to switch the pump on initially, and the flow switches then keep it running, and stop it (or perhaps not in this case).

Stuart turner monsoon shower pump not turning off...

Dual impeller pump so you're pumping hot too? In that case, there is a reed switch on both outlets wired in parallel - so flow in EITHER hot or cold will start the pump. But it sounds from your description that it is the one in the cold side causing the problem. The test I suggested to you of...

Stuart turner monsoon shower pump not turning off...

Agree with previous answer from @oldbuffer What you're seeing isn't as strange as it sounds either. Normally, the bog would be on mains pressure but it sounds like yours is pumped low pressure? If what you're saying is correct, flush the bog, and the flow eases off very gradually as the...

Panasonic TX-39GS352B strange headphone socket sound issue

Just to close the loop for the benefit of anyone else with a similar product and problem, the fault has now been proven onto the main board using a S/H one. Not sure whether it's linked but when you plug a headset extension cord (i.e. no headset) into the socket on the faulty board, it doesn't...

Panasonic TX-39GS352B strange headphone socket sound issue

When a set of standard headphones is plugged into the headphone socket of a relative's TV, voices are all chopped up and garbled to the point they are completely unintelligible. What's odd is if there happens to be music on the channel that is selected at the time (instead or as well as voices)...

Stuart turner monsoon shower pump not turning off...

Pleased this posting helped you to work out what was going on, and a great idea to try and use another strong magnet to try and move the stuck flow switch you had. But like you say, there is a fair chance it might reoccur. As well as the washers mentioned earlier in this thread, it could also...

Can anyone recommend the best email

As @Diver Fred suggests, if you really want unlimited email storage, you have the option of pulling your messages down to a mail client like Thunderbird (which I've been using for many years too), setting Thunderbird to delete the server copy, and archiving them locally. But that has some...

    GU 5.3 12V LED - AC/DC rating query

It would make sense if that was the case. I've just found an old spare low voltage halogen driver unit that is 12V AC output - so you'd expect anyone making an LED bulb in the same format would make them directly interchangeable. I've also just checked an LED driver unit I have in use for...

    GU 5.3 12V LED - AC/DC rating query

Looking to swap a halogen 12V GU 5.3 for an LED in a relative's fibre optic Christmas tree - but when I look around, I see bulbs saying they are for 12V DC, ones that say 12V AC, ones that say they will work on either, and ones that don't say anything other than 12V. Confusing, so I assume...

Condensation(?) on one wall in Victorian property

I think I'm firmly on the same page. A lot hinges on how long they intend to stay there really.

Condensation(?) on one wall in Victorian property

Agreed. In an ideal world, that sort of thickness of insulated plasterboard would have been added when it was refurbished. But now, there's fully fitted wardrobes on the adjacent wall and issues like that which would make it more difficult and expensive to do. If it was my property and I was...

Thanks. The Wallrock stuff is about 4mm so comparable to that.

Condensation(?) on one wall in Victorian property

Just some follow up questions. Would I be right in assuming that this building would likely be stone on the outside, and a brick (or rubble) backing, and no cavity? I got my first proper look at the problem this morning and it soon became clear that the affected walls aren't plasterboard - it...

Condensation(?) on one wall in Victorian property

Thanks. The paint is an eggshell finish, and it just looks more glossy due to the moisture. I've advised my friend to have a dig about and see if he can find any of the paint used, as the eggshell might still be impermeable and making the situation worse. If a dehumidifier isn't even helping...

Condensation(?) on one wall in Victorian property

A friend of ours lives in a top floor flat in a stone-built Victorian semi-detached house, and has what appears to be condensation problems on just one wall in a bedroom. Main points as follows: The flats were converted about 20 years ago, and it looks to have been done well and to high...

Siemens SI 14.44 iQ700 washing machine won't start

New lock fitted and all working well. Couple of lessons learnt for anyone else attempting this type of repair: 1. I was expecting to have to dig the integrated machine out (which is why I posted on here first), but in fact, the spring and wire securing the rubber seal to the front panel is...

Siemens SI 14.44 iQ700 washing machine won't start

Managed to dig the door lock out, and take that to bits, and it looks like the solenoid in it has gone open circuit.
