    Dodgy Dimmer?

I’m pretty handy, in fact I tried to unclip the module earlier but it wouldn’t completely come apart, but I could take another look tomorrow...

    Dodgy Dimmer?

Yeah, otherwise I guess I could replace the whole thing with a 3 gang on/off switch right? Even if the downlights are LED dimmers, is it OK to just make them on/off or is it more complicated than that? I don’t even like dimmers anyway!

    Dodgy Dimmer?

Trouble is the white plastic behind the knob is designed to show through the cut out in the faceplate - see pic. Yes I have tried the lights on another module and had the same results. I’m sure it’s that the shelf lights don’t want to be on a dimmer.

    Dodgy Dimmer?

Yes they are all independent - 3 separate modules. They all look like this one in the pic. So you mean that I should try to find one made by Deta UK?

    Dodgy Dimmer?

I guess the question is - are dimmer modules all the same size and will they fit the same slots? For example is this what I need? https://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/VLGH0W.html

    Dodgy Dimmer?

Amazing thank you. I have a Deta switch and the back of the module reads “Deta LED Dimmer Switch”. I just googled for a Deta dummy and they don’t seem to exist though there are other brands. However, they seem to come in different colours and the connections to the module holder look different...

    Dodgy Dimmer?

Hi, need some advice on what I think is a faulty lightswitch/wiring. In our dining room, there is a 3 gang dimmer switch on the wall. Each switch controls the following: 1. A few downlights. This works fine. 2. Another 2 downlights PLUS lighting built into some wall-mounted shelving. The...

    Testing power at thermostat

The back panel is faulty, swapping one over from the kitchen to the hallway and it works fine. I’ll just need a replacement. Thanks again for your help!

    Testing power at thermostat

Super thanks, voltage says 239. So it’s getting power and yet the display isn’t coming on - but if I swap it with the one in the hallway it works - strange? I’ll try swapping the thermostats back panel too and see what happens. Thanks again.

    Testing power at thermostat

Thank you and sorry for the basic questions, but: 1. I should have the power turned on right? 2. AC is the V with the squiggly line? 3. Does it matter which colour probe I have on which colour wire and should I place them on one after the other -if so which first? Thanks

    Testing power at thermostat

Hi, I need to test whether a thermostat is getting power. The thermostat is for underfloor heating in the kitchen. I know the thermostat itself is not faulty because I’ve tried swapping it with the one in the hallway and it worked fine. Therefore I’m assuming the fault is elsewhere, possibly...

    No TV Signal

Hi, I have moved into a new build house, plugged the TV into the TV point, tried to run auto-tune and I get nothing. I’ve tried another TV point in another room, I’ve tried new cables, I’ve tried with/without an amp/booster and still nothing. I notice in the garage there’s a Televes...

    Help - Downlights

Hi all - I have one day to fix this as I'm moving house on Tuesday. In my living room are some 50w halogen downlights that are too close to the joists in the ceiling. When we first moved in I noticed this when redecorating so I just disconnected them to avoid any problems. I always intended to...

    Fridge is Dead

The good news is that it's alive again, bad news is that I look an idiot. Got a sparky in...as he was checking the socket he looked up and noticed a small switch under the light in the fridge... Seems we probably knocked the switch putting something inside the fridge. Had no idea it was...

    Fridge is Dead

Thanks John, yes I've checked that with a lamp and the socket is fine as is the fuse in the plug. Could it be that something inside has blown or overheated?

    Fridge is Dead

Dear all, came home tonight and the fridge is dead. It's a 3-year old Neff. I've checked the circuit breaker and fuse in the fridge plug and all seems fine. There's definitely no life, fan and light off and food. Any ideas if there's something obvious that I've missed? Many thanks

    Boiler Shut-Down Problem

Hi - right the heating went on the first time this evening and the same thing happened...the boiler ignored the programmer and didn't shut the heating off. I left it for 15 minutes and then I turned down the wired thermostat to half a degrees below the currently displayed temp and boiler turned...
