Right of access to the neighbour’s land

I've given you full acts and some summary links... Let's try this one step at a time. You want access, you expect a refusal, you want to force your neighbour. Why do you need access? Is it for new build or maintenance? If it's new build, tough, you have no right to access. Make nice...

Right of access to the neighbour’s land

So you want to utilise these acts based solely on advice received on an internet forum without any actual knowledge of the acts themselves? You also expect a stranger to accurately summarise an extensive technical document taylored to a situation they have no view of and without any idea what...

    Creating bi-fold metal gates

If you already have someone to weld, why not just use normal gate hinges and weld a plate in to join the female sockets so the gates close flush. So essentially it'll be gate, flat plate an inch or so wide to accommodate thickness, gate. Roller can sit to the base of the plate section. First...

    Pruning a neglected silver birch?

This is my mates garden around the corner from me, since getting the house about six years ago he hasn't touched the back of the garden behind the shed. He's after tidying up the back of the garden and I'll be giving him a hand. This summer it looked like this: End of this summer...

    Ivy vs Felt flat roof

Alas, it's all covered up now: Separate thread on it here: http://www.diynot.com/forums/your-projects/post-beam-garden-motorcycle-workshop.377379/ Suppose it's in the garden so I may try to get it moved here, that way I can keep these questions in there and continue to expand on the...

Building Regulations Change of Use from house to a shop.

Did something similar at a place I used to work a few years ago. (probably about 7 really...) The place was originally 3 joined houses / cottages but downstairs was converted to shops in the 50's, with flats upstairs. We converted the upstairs to showroom space, biggest hassle was...

    Ivy vs Felt flat roof

Yes I've the same situation, it's coming over from the neighbours side, So; free pest instead(!) As an aside, does anyone know if you can grow clematus out of a big pot/planter? (or rather the question should be, how well would it grow...) The soil here is a nice sandy loam. I don't...

Post & Beam garden motorcycle workshop

Got the felt underlay on today after boarding last week: Got this week off work, priority is shed, then getting her kitchen built :P The felt underlay is interesting stuff, it's polyester easy seal. Essentially you paint on a sealer onto the board and layout the underlay which...

    Ivy vs Felt flat roof

Ah yes, I'd looked at exactly that as a wall covering, it is nice looking stuff and softens nicely. Where does yours grow from?

    Ivy vs Felt flat roof

Not enough depth in the rafters to take that kind of weight, I'm very limited for hight as it needs to be below the level of the wall at the back. S'pose I could cover it in fake grass(!)

    Ivy vs Felt flat roof

Cheers, pretty much as I thought, it's the neighbours ivy so i'll keep it regularly well trimmed, easy enough to climb onto the roof anyway. Would be nice to soften the structure with something, I'll read up on your suggestion.

    Wet shed base

How does water fall from your shed? Does it drop directly from your roof immediately beside the base? A bit of guttering may help to divert the fall away if your overhang will suit it. If it's surface water, it may be worth putting a pea gravel trench around the shed to stop surface water...

    Ivy vs Felt flat roof

I'm building a shed (largish workshop) at the bottom of my garden, It will have a near flat felt roof, there is ivy growing on the back wall which will grow onto the shed roof. Should I regularly trim back the ivy to stop this happening or will it be OK? I like the idea of the ivy...
