Hi, long time lurker first time poster :)

I'm looking to widen, and put a fold in each side of my metal driveway gates. I've got someone on the hook to do the welding, and can buy the relevant railheads and baskets to add the new parts to the gate.

BUT...

I'm struggling with what kind of hinge to use for the actual fold in each side. I'd like the two halves to fold back on themselves, and be pretty flush when finished.

Can someone please recommend the hinge type to use for creating this fold?

If you already have someone to weld, why not just use normal gate hinges and weld a plate in to join the female sockets so the gates close flush. So essentially it'll be gate, flat plate an inch or so wide to accommodate thickness, gate.
Roller can sit to the base of the plate section.

First thing to pop into my head anyway.
