DIMMER SWITCH - WONT TURN LIGHTS OFF COMPLETELY

personally I would go with old faithful's like MK. Best advice is to go to an electrical wholesalers and ask their advice. B&Q and Hombase etc are usually ok for this stuff, but unless you go in the week and ask a retired tradesman type, you aint gonna get the advice you need!

Putting a downstairs toilet under stairs.

Hi again, just read somewhere that this is notifiable. Is this the case and why? There is already a water supply in the cupboard, is this just a money making thing or are there legitimate reasons for these fees? Sorry, having a rant! :x

Putting a downstairs toilet under stairs.

My wife is going into the childminding business and we thought it may be better to put a loo and hand basin downstairs so we only have to make sure the downstairs is ofsted approved. The under stairs cupboard currently has our washing machine installed so there is a water supply already in...

    Hardest DIY jobs

Tiling and wallpapering are my achilles heel...not that I can't do them as such, more that I have no patience with them. I can do plumbing, electrics, joinery plastering and bricklaying until the cows come home, and really enoy it even if my plastering and bricklaying is a little dubious...but...

How much of a risk is it not earthing a ceiling light?

Ultimately, we are in a situation where a mistake has been made because of little knowledge of the work carried out. We all make mistakes, and we all learn by them, maybe he has done just that! When you're in the industry, you live and breathe H&S and make sure that no one is put at risk...

    feeding a garage rcd unit

Absolutely and I should have been clearer. My first reaction to the suggestion was that it would be better coming from the main cu via an appropriately rated mcb, swa 18" underground and then into the rcd unit. however, his main cu has no space left for this. the cooker switch is on an...

    Nice find while decorating!

I've never been surprised by the bizarre ideas of most DIYers when I am doing my own work. I've lost count of the times I had muttered the words "why would anyone do that?", but this one really beats anything I've encountered.
