olski I'm not using a multi whatsit, I'm using an elec. testing scrwdriver, I presume that if it doesn't light up there is no live coming from the prgrammer?

Thanks for the input kev. But how does a faulty microswitch make the live back to the programmer go dead, I can understand no live to the pump and boiler AFTER the microswitch, is it to do with the relay in the programmer? sorry just trying to work it all out.

Hi ollski Thanks for the comments. with this particular valve there is no lever but with the head off I can turn the spindle by hand. and if the live is working the acutator can be seen moving and I can hear a little click and then its pot luck as to wether the live is still there or not. Cheers

If u live in a hard water area the limescale gets into the moving parts and stiffens them up. Try brushing on vinegar with an old toothbrush working it into all the nooks and crannnies (on the tap that is), it does work. Let us know waht happens

No the calcs don't allow for hot water Kev. How much should I allow for this? Cylinder looks average size ( flat size if thats any help) I don't have the hot water on that much ( its a small flat) so could I ignore the HW point?

Hi I have an old Glow worm spacesaver 38000 btu, vented. I would like to add a more couple of rads. The current rads equal about 36000 btu. The question is can the boiler handle handle any more, what would happen if adding the rads took it to 39-40000 btu. Thanks in advance for any help.

I read an article about re-filling the system from below rather than above. i.e. Taking a hose from the cold water mains and connecting to the drain valve and re-filling it carefully under pressure. I wonder if anyone has any comments on this procedure...........before I try it myself.

I know where your coming from but never had a problem with this rad before, its always worked if the hot water and heating valves on open. Can't trace the pipes as they are embedded in a concrete floor, its a flat u see. But thanks for your help
