    Bonding on metal stopcock?

Thanks. Also he said the fused switches in the property were too old and need to be updated. They are MK fused ones probably circa early 1970s. I've no real issue with changing them but imo they seem to work pretty well and otherwise look intact. Is this down to the issue of plastic ageing?

    Bonding on metal stopcock?

Hi All, Had an EICR test done. Few things failed which I understand fine. However, the guy inspecting also said I need to make an earth bonding to a metal stopcock that has plastic pipe either side. This is the mains water stopcock coming from a mains plastic pipe. Is this the case? Thanks.

Way to check earth connection to metal fittings without removing them?

Hi All, Have various metal light fittings, mains sockets and light switches in property. I wanted to check if the earth wire has been connected to the metal fitting itself. Is there a way to test this without having to open all of them up? Thanks

Flushing Toilets and Closing Taps cause banging

For an unvented system the mains provides the pressure. So it will affect it. But also you don't want too much water pressure either. The regulator will help control it.

Flushing Toilets and Closing Taps cause banging

Caused by water hammer. The sudden stop of water flowing. When you had the mains water pipe changed the water pressure may have increased so now you're getting the banging. The only thing you can do is try and clip up pipes if they are loose. That may help but may not stop it altogether. There...

    Putting sealant into a boiler

The point being made, and also having seen the pressure on your picture, is that you're more than likely losing water via the pressure relief valve because your expansion vessel is not pumped. So adding leak sealant will be of no use. Also if you do want to add it then you'd need to know some...

    Putting sealant into a boiler

Going by your picture it's hitting 3 bar. As said looks like vessel needs topping up. If you've got steel rads and keep filling up with fresh water every day you're going to end up with far worse problems. The annual services you've had don't necessarily mean a thing. Depends on who you call...

Using Fernox Cleaner and Protector on Potterton 13 year old Combi

Is there a reason you'd want to do it now instead of wait until Spring/Summer? If it's otherwise working fine I'd leave it until the worst of the weather is over. If you haven't got a magnetic filter on the return pipe then you could make things worse for yourself.

Boiler switched off - how long for condensate to stop dripping?

Already did that. Turned off for 4 hours and there was a drip every 30 seconds. Just wondered if I need to keep it turned off longer.

Boiler switched off - how long for condensate to stop dripping?

Yes, losing pressure. Needing to top up weekly now. No issues with PRV or pressure rising. Expansion vessel fine etc. Boiler is dry as a bone otherwise and very clean. No leaks in pipework or rads/valves, not even a weep. Just two rooms where I haven't checked the pipes under the floorboards...

Boiler switched off - how long for condensate to stop dripping?

As title - after a combi boiler is totally switched off (CH has been on) after what amount of time would you expect condensate to stop dripping? Thanks!

    Biasi Lockout?

Biasi model M110B.32SM/C Well maintained boiler. Works most of the time but sometimes when turning the hot tap on it won't ignite. When it works it's very quiet and is sweet as a nut. Well serviced, regular new inhibitor etc. You can see it going through the ignition sequence making various...

Thanks for the replies. No, the euro lock itself is fine. The problem has been the same even after 2 euro lock changes.

    UPVC Multi-Point Lock....help

Hi All, Back after a long while. Have a multi-point lock on a front UPVC door. It's an unusual system where you turn the key itself several times to move the multi-point system instead of lifting the handle. When opening the door from the inside with the handle it's no problem at all on the...

Biasi Diverter Pin not coming out enough

Biasi Diverter Pin not coming out enough

Update to this. Removed the pump. However it was not as straightforward as the manual makes out. They tell you to remove the fork holding the outlet pipe going to the main exchanger and simply pull the pipe up and away. Except there is no give in pushing the pipe up. You have to use a lot of...

Biasi Diverter Pin not coming out enough

I understand how the diaphragm works I simply referred to it in that way because it is part of the body of the diverter. That is all. :-)
