hotpoint wd61 not heating water properly

Thanks to this forum, I have kept an old Hotpoint wd61 going. It is playing up again, so I hope someone can help me with the latest problem. Last week, it stopped heating while the dryer was on. this had happened before and I knew it could be the orange lead near the fan come adrift. This was...

    vw polo window regulator

Managed to answer my own question. VW supplies say the spacers are part of the whole regulator assembly and cannot be bought separately. Since the new regulator is £90 ish, and mine works fine, we've done some home engineering. Found some bolts with the same thread as the spacers, ground down...

    vw polo window regulator

Hi, I have a 1996 VW Polo My electric window regulator has just failed. It was the clips - and I have new ones, but the actual spacer bits on the regulator struts that the bolts fit into have also come adrift. They were just pressed on to the frame. Does anyone know what these parts are called...

    Hotpoint Aquarius WD61 dryer heater

Thanks Rocks for the info about the element. However, while getting ready to cut the insulation I noticed a broken connection to the dryer fan - and that turned out to be the problem. But - the way this machine goes, I expect I shall be needing the element changed at some point, so thanks anyway.

    Hotpoint Aquarius WD61 dryer heater

Hi rocks - again! thanks for the reply, but I don't quite get the second bit - could you explain? Also, once I've cut the insulation, can I use it again or should it be replaced as well?

    Hotpoint Aquarius WD61 dryer heater

Hello again. I'm the owner of an ancient Hotpoint Aquarius WD61, which has been kept going thanks to this forum. After a long trouble free spell, it has now a new problem. The dryer is not heating up. I have tested the thermostats for continuity and they are OK, so I suppose the problem...

    Aquarius Washer Dryer WD61

Yes, the belt has does the trick, but having the back off the machine has revealed a couple more things. One, there is a leak at the bottom of the teardrop shaped tank to the right of the back of the machine. Is there a gasket under this part that can be replaced? Also I can see that there is...

    Aquarius Washer Dryer WD61

Hi again, thanks for replying. I took the back off the machine and the fan belt had torn and come off - I suppose I should have looked before posting here. I've ordered a new one and hope that the motor will be ok. I'll get back on here if the belt doesn't solve the problem.

    Flymo Micro Compact 30

Thanks for replying. The bearing is at the base of the metal spine that sticks up through the base plate - is this right? Should there be something at the top of the metal bit, there is a groove round it as though something clips in?

    Aquarius Washer Dryer WD61

Hello to this forum again! My WD61 has developed a new problem. Last wash was fine - it was a load of towels and they had spun very well. I put in the next wash and the machine filled, clicked its way quietly throught the programme, drained, but did nothing inbetween. Suspicion falls on the...

    Flymo Micro Compact 30

Hi, I have a faithful little Flymo Micro Compact 30, but it surprised me today by having a prolapse! The fan blade assembly dropped down and then the belt came off. I took it all apart and cannot see any broken bits to show how it was fixed in. I've looked on an exploded diagram and can't...

    Hotpoint WDL 540p

Hello Having had wonderful help from this forum in the past, I'm now asking on behalf of a neighbour who has recently purchased a Hotpoint WDL 540P and has no computer. She was running a drying cycle on hanger dry. At the end of this, the clothes were still quite damp, so she put it on...

    Saniplus problem

Hello again. Just thought I'd update you on my Saniplus and thanks for your help. It was the condenser that was at fault. really replacing it was simple - and I could only wire a plug before. The worst part was getting to and cleaning out the saniplus. The cost of the condenser and a new...

    Saniplus problem

Hello again. Thanks for your input so far. I have taken off the membrane and exposed the wiring. I'm poised with a multimeter but am unsure which terminals to test for the motor windings. Also is the red sealant Hermatite? Thanks again.

    Saniplus problem

Nige hasn't given an answer to my question, just made a joke. If you read my post you will see I have said I have cleaned the Saniplus and I mean that. I have seen on other forums that plumbers won't touch Saniflos, usually because they are unpleasant. I was asking for a diagnosis not a plumber!

    Saniplus problem

Very funny - what you're referring to was covered by "the usual gunge". The silt is from limescale and since the basin is on a limestone wall in a basement there is a certain amount of stone dust which falls in and gets washed down the drain. That's what I meant by "silt".

    Saniplus problem

I have a Saniplus pump connected to a basement loo and sink. A couple of days ago it stopped pumping and only emits a hum as though it is trying to get going. I turned it off, cleaned it out. Apart from the expected gunge and some silt at the bottom there was no sign of any blockage and the...

    Hotpoint Aquarius WD61 bearings?

Hello rocks1, just to let you know, all the parts arrived yesterday, everything went well apart from forgetting to put the drain hose back in the standpipe when testing for leaks! The towels used to clean up have been washed and are drying at the moment. Hooray! At £67.00ish it all cost less...
