I am building some decking to replace the disaster that was left behind by the previous owner. This area has to be slightly higher that the stuff that is already there due to the ground, solid concrete and rocks which are all uneven so I can make it ground level. The area is approx 3m x...

    Built a decking...a few afterthoughts

Ha!! @ Banana pine Yeah the stuff they have is terrible. I was in looking at sleepers the other day and they were split right down the middle to the point they will fall apart soon and they wanted full price for them. Good for fire wood and that was about it.

    Built a decking...a few afterthoughts

The stuff I had delivered was not 28mm thick. The stuff I looked at in Wickes was 28mm thick and was obvious it was thicker than the B&Q stuff. I wonder what thickness it was :?

    Built a decking...a few afterthoughts

I initially bought boards from B&Q and sent it straight back as soon as it was delivered, they were shocking and was told to 'power wash' them to remove the mould. I dont think so. I got 32mm boards from a local timber merchant and they are far superior quality to the ones B&Q delivered. It...

    Built a decking...a few afterthoughts

I built a decking recently where my grass used to be, it is approx 7m in length and 3.5m wide. In total approx 40 posts went in over 5 rows and the joists were run long ways. Now to prevent slipping (thought about the way of the foot traffic etc and this was best) I ran the deck boards parallel...

Hi guys... first question on here so please be gentle He he  I plan to get rid of the terrible looking log roll border that surrounds my strawberry patch. The sleepers I plan to use are new from wickes and are 250mm high, which is a perfect height for my use. I plan to level off...

Oh I could name a few...not me but previous owner!

This was not me, this was the previous owner that had these disasters that I have encountered. Bath...not sealed around the tub thus allowing free flowing water to run down the wall on the the supporting floor resulting in the bath falling through the rotten floor board. Skirting...
