Taking out tiles to tie ladder to batons

I basically asked this for general access and ladder safety in general but was enthused to ask it from having to paint on this house. A roofer chap said he will help me tie some scaffold planks from a mitower to roof below window on right hand side. Will use mitower for rest of house too

Taking out tiles to tie ladder to batons

Sounds great! Strange why my roofer customer who I am friendly with said the baton and not rafter to tie to. How u get nail out of that bottom tile? Just force it/pull really hard? What rope would you use out of interest? Could tie small top of small tower as well to rafter.

    Cutting thick hedges

The bloke who owns the house in picture, his neighbour has a tower. If it's no good I'll get a mitower and maybe roofing ladder for right side. Looking at getting a belt and rope for that side as well.

Taking out tiles to tie ladder to batons

Thxs. You're referring to getting the tile down, aren't you ? If left in current state it shouldn't cause any serious problems should it, I won't be able to get to those tiles for a few weeks. As far as getting bottom tile up near gutters, do I just force it up? Pull it hard. Or was your...

Taking out tiles to tie ladder to batons

Is it easy to put them back? I pushed the second row up (as in pix) but lower one's wouldn't budge. Also when I tried to pull the two from second row back down they didn't come all the way down, overlapped but an inch short of other tiles Is that a problem?

Taking out tiles to tie ladder to batons

Basically he said with concrete tiles you push the second from bottom one up and then the bottom one can be removed. With rosemary or whatever the smaller ones are called you take out four tiles. Would like to practice doing it so I know I can put the back properly. Tieing a ladder could...

The mitower doesn't need a course. The course is for higher towers. Will do it when I need to hire one for over 6 metre working height

I did call a safety guy and he said the same about swinging from a harness. Need another person present to get u down. There is a device for £1000 which lowers u but that's not going to happen. He did say though that a harness and rope could work on a roof because you keep rope tight and so...

Why is it safer to hit the ground and die or be paralysed than be swinging around in the air?

You're absolutely right but when I posted the question on a decorators forum no one mentioned scaffold just ladders. This goes to show how many people don't bother with scaffold on this kind of work. One guy mentioned the mitower from hss and recommended them. Are even these mitowers...

I suggested a tower for middle bit and added that on price for customer. The bit on right would be roofing ladder. To sand the wood at top best to have all equipment with you. Have you heard of fall arrest gear - harness which hooks onto something which is over ridge?
