    Cost Effective Garage Build?

I think one issue you will face is building too close to the boundary with flammable materials.

What to do with this very tall concrete plinth?

This. If you are worried, find a specialist damp surveyor you pay (typically a couple of hundred quid) rather than a "free" survey that recommends £5ks worth of useless injections

    Fixing wooden slats on plasterboard...

Double sided tape may work, especially with MDF. 4 or 5 lines across the wall should hold it, as long as its not too thick/heavy.

    Trouble removing Artex with X-tex

I had success with artex remover gel by painting it on, covering it in cling film in the morning, and then before going to bed, gave it another coat and reapplied the cling film. Come the next morning it came off easily. Not saying that will work in your situation, but if it dries too quickly...

    Water tracking through wall

It is sleeved, but not open to the outer face- the wall has been pebbledashed, and they were not very careful about where they did it.

    Water tracking through wall

Hi all, I have a situation where I think water is tracking along an external pipe, and then in through the wall causing damp. It's a 22mm gas pipe that exits through a solid brick wall, then travels externally upwards on the outside of the wall. Water is dripping off the pipe inside, where it...

Loft Insulation Upgrade Worth it from about 100mm (Partly Compressed)?

They say the average house can save £200-£300 going from 0 to 270mm. Now the law of diminishing returns applies, so even that 70mm will be doing quite a bit, so the saving is likely to be lower. I reckon you would save 100-150 per year. Probably cheaper to fit loft legs, but a lot more work

Replacing tiles around bay windows with external insulation

I'd say it would be easier to do it from the inside? Take the skirting and plaster off, then attach 50mm celotex and plasterboard, refit skirting. You could do the whole wall, and not just the bay whilst you are at it. Lot easier than working at height imo, and DIYable

    Tape and jointing

I gave up using paper as I kept having the same issues and use the mesh tape now, but only on tapered board. As with randomgrinch i tend to fill the joint, add the tape and then come back to it after it has hardened, then it's a lot easier. Also, if you are going to use ready mix, I see a lot...

    Dry lining - filling gaps

Yep, I used to mess about with using 2, but ran out of 1, and just used easifil and never looked back. Not used paper tape before, but I'm sure it will be fine!

    Dry lining - filling gaps

Personally I've used easyfill with fibreglass scrim tape, and the boards still look good years later

    Dry lining - filling gaps

If you use powdered filler, rather than ready-mixed, it won't mind being that deep
