Thanks for the replies. Yes the blockage is on this property. Digging down isn't a solution for me, we have a patio so I'm at the mercy of whoever we choose to fix it. The last lot my wife got in were 1st Active Plumbing who I have since discovered have appeared on Watchdog. :(

I did say I was a duffer :lol: Ok, how many tanks can there be in the loft? I know enough to say a cold water storage tank..........is there some sort of central heating tank as well? I thought heating systems were sealed? :? Could one of the overflow pipes come from a heating tank?

Sorry if this seems like a no-brainer but I'm a complete duffer where plumbing's concerned :oops: We have two overflow pipes that emerge from the facia boards to the rear of our property........they're well lagged inside the loft and I assume they both come from the water tank...

I have a problem with my machine. It's finished a cycle but the red "lock" symbol remains illuminated (not flashing). I've tried running the cycle again etc but it still won't let me open the door. What can I do?

Thanks for the replies :lol: It's a moulded plug supplying a washing machine. And the socket is mounted on wall tiles :evil: Brute force is the only solution? I can see damage to the tiles looming on the horizon!

I have a plug that is stuck solid in the socket. The screws that fix the socket to the wall are obscured by the plug, so I can't even take the socket off the wall. Any advice on how I can sort this out?

Erm, a car and some rabbit food! However, next door's garage contains a load of racing motorbikes which the two guys strip down and rebuild etc etc.............the conclusion being the dopey criminals have probably had a go at the wrong garage. However, that doesn't help me...........
