    3-way valve problem?

Thanks for the link Hugh. The diagrams are very helpful. Mandate, it is my understanding that the boiler and pump get their power from the micro switches in the 3-way valve and these are actuated by the motor. So, if the motor doesn't operate or the appropriate micro switch doesn't work, the...

    3-way valve problem?

I appear to be having the same problem I had about 9 months ago. At that time the boiler would be dead, but would fire up when I switched the power off and on again. I decided at that time to wait until it happened again and I would then have a look at the 3-way valve and try and diagnose the...

Baxi boiler trips without apparent cause

Thanks for that. I'm about to start trying to trace the fault.

Baxi boiler trips without apparent cause

Thanks gas112. I suppose I'll have to wait until the problem occurs again to be able to track the power supply through the various components you list.

Baxi boiler trips without apparent cause

I have a 3 year old Baxi Solo HE boiler. Lately it has tripped twice. All three lights are off and, using the Baxi fault finder, I checked the electrical supply at the incoming terminals on the boiler - no power. At this time, the boiler controller in the kitchen is showing lights indicating...

    Picture break-up

Since retuning we seem to have problems with the Freeview TV picture freezing momentarily - the sound continues OK. Is this a general problem or is it my system? I have three TVs connected to a single aerial in the loft (we are in a strong signal area) and all sets gave a satisfactory output...

    Power sockets tripping out

Thanks for the clarification. I'll have a think about that.

    Power sockets tripping out

Not sure what you mean (I'm probably a bit thick). The CU and the meter are both in the garage. I don't know what you mean by ''one to the other''. The cables from the CU disappear into the garage roof space and then into the space above the ground floor ceiling.

    Power sockets tripping out

Many thanks for the helpful replies. The items plugged in while we were away were a freezer (in the garage, which might be even damper than the rest of the house), a fridge/ freezer and a small fridge and a Microwave which were part of the kitchen upgrade which resulted in the installation of...

    Power sockets tripping out

About 3 years ago we had a new kitchen fitted, which involved some mods to sockets. The electrician involved (under contract to B&Q) replaced the old wire fuse for the downstairs sockets with a modern circuit breaker. Since then the switch has tripped out three times, the latest being while we...

    Lawn mower problem

It was the air filter! I'm sorry to say I didn't take the advice of Mursal and run the mower without the filter. I had looked at the filter and it looked perfectly clean and I couldn't believe that was the problem. I removed the carburetor - thanks for the instructions Burnerman - and cleaned...

    Lawn mower problem

Many thanks for the suggestions, I'll have a closer look at the carb. As regards the control lever,Mursal, I misled you. The mower doesn't have a user operated speed control and the control lever I meant is the one which is part of the mower automatic speed control and is operated by a spindle...

    Lawn mower problem

I have a Honda izy powered mower, 2008 vintage. It has given me no trouble since new but has now started to act up. The mower starts first pull, still cuts the grass and the powered travel works OK. However, the speed control has started hunting. The speed falls off and then revs up, usually...

    Shower Cabinet Fixing

Thanks for that - I see the point. You can't guarantee a perfect seal on the inside.

    Shower Cabinet Fixing

I am replacing a shower cabinet and the installation instructions on the new unit say, (in red letters) "do not apply sealant inside the cabinet, only to the outside". I would have thought it more desirable to stop water getting behind the brackets, rather than letting it get behind and then...

Baxi 100/2 HE Plus tripping out

I jumped the gun and removed the combustion chamber cover to examine the seal. One side seemed to be brittle and a piece had broken off in removing the cover. I then replaced the seal with a new correct part and the boiler worked OK for a while and then tripped on overheat as before. The fan...

Baxi 100/2 HE Plus tripping out

There is some dust in the bottom of the fan compartment, but only as much as I would have expected. We have only been in this house just over a year and I understand that the boiler had only recently been installed when we bought the house. Would you suggest I remove the combustion chamber cover...

Baxi 100/2 HE Plus tripping out

My boiler is tripping out on over-temperature and it is the fan temperature cutout that is doing it. I have replaced the fan overheat thermostat, which has no effect. When I remove the fan compartment cover, the fan casing is very hot to the touch and I can understand why it is cutting out. If...

How best to apply silicone sealant

Thanks for all that guys. I think I've got plenty of suggestions to work on. I'll try the dragging, not applying too much, and wet finger technique and see how I go before investing in the Fugi kit.
