Are Engineering bricks adequate for use underground

We did skim over the precast concrete rings but I thought they may be 2 heavy to left into place as I am a woman (dont groan) and only have my kevin and perry style sons helping me. The mebrane is the geo. The area needed is 1.5m cubed. we could only dig down 1 metre before we hit clay so...

    Soak away questions

Hi We are building the soakaway to take the rain water from rear of roof. It is being inspected by the council who have told us we cannot backfill with rubble. They suggested the crates/cells but after pricing them I felt that there must be a cheaper way. Have you the link to the place that...

    Soak away questions

Hi We are having to build a 1.5m cubed soak away. We have looked at the new cell/crates and they look ideal but at £90 each and needing 12 I think that is out of the question. So we now need to build the old fashioned honeycomb type and i have some questions that someone might be kind enough...

    Bay window support

Thanks for the info. I think what you are explaining to me is what I have seen supporting older type bay windows. It is a piece of timber the sits directly underneath the bay and is built into the wall, and not angled downwards . Would this be ok with block construction as the extension has...

    Bay window support

Hi We are about to have double glazing put on an extension to our house. One of the windows on the 1st floor bedroom is to be a plant on type bay window. The fitter has said that as its an upstairs bay it needs a wooden support underneath it. If this support is placed at the angle the fitter...

We are about to put the roof on our 2 story extension. Builders have finished and roofers due in next week. We have just realised that the stench pipe is going to be in the way of the new roof.
