    Meter Problems (Possibly).

Lol! No! Wish I did the state of my back these days!

    Meter Problems (Possibly).

Because we can't physically get behind the TV (it's not flatscreen and extremely heavy!) to turn it off. The TV is switched off each night and my DVD/Divx player has a proper off switch. I've seen those meters before. The socket is behind the fridge so would it work OK if we moved the...

    Meter Problems (Possibly).

JohnD: Will certainly give that a try. Never thought of switching off at the mains! Currently trying to re-fit the kitchen in order to get a dishwasher in (yes, I'm aware of the irony!) so will probably leave that till tomorrow and post back then. ban-all-sheds: Ah, well, we only went for the...

    Meter Problems (Possibly).

Thanks to everyone for the responses. Spark123: My mum reads the meter every time a bill comes in, so it was last read three months ago. It was accurate then. rebuke: We're comparing the reading to both the last bill (as the same amount of electricity would have been used due to the same...

    Remove/Replace Plastic Kitchen Sink

londonboy: I will not be beaten! In all seriousness I'd agree with you but for the fact that this household is currently brassic. And, to be honest with you, I woudn't trust the plumbers round here as far as I can spit. I know there are good 'uns but it's finding them. However, if I...

    Remove/Replace Plastic Kitchen Sink

You assume correctly! Basically, because of the awful plumbing in this place, if I put the dishwasher in under the drainer as it is, it sits in front of the stop-cock. Also, it wouldn't fit flush because the waste pipe justs out about 3 inches from the wall. So... there you go! :roll...

    Remove/Replace Plastic Kitchen Sink

Hi londonboy, I have looked at doing that, but the way it's fitted means I can't easily get a blade into the gap between the sink itself and the cut-edge of the worktop. It's a very tight fit! Popped to Screwfix and bought a pot of sealent remover. Thought it was worth a punt for a couple...

    Remove/Replace Plastic Kitchen Sink

Thanks for the reply kirkgas, but it won't move at all. If I prise it up the edge of the lip just breaks away. :( Upon closer inspection it seems that the bloke who fitted it has put silicone around the inside edge of the hole, dropped the sink in and then put more silicone around the edge...

    Meter Problems (Possibly).

We got an electricity bill last week and it was an estimated bill so we checked the meter. According to the meter we've used six months worth of electricity in three months which is, frankly, impossible. There's only two of us in the house and we're very energy consious; nothing is left on...

    Remove/Replace Plastic Kitchen Sink

Hi all, The people on this forum were extremely helpful during my bathroom re-fit woes, so I'm hoping someone can advise me again. We've just bought a slimline dishwasher and, in order to fit it, I need to swap my sink around so that the bowl part (currently on the right hand side) sits on...

Really quick (I hope!) question about baths...

Well, I was actually going to do that but I was assured that, having fitted a replacement floorboard, I wouldn't need to. As far as I could see the new board only moved a fraction of a mm and that was when the bath was full upto the overflow. We'll only be using it for showers and the odd...

Really quick (I hope!) question about baths...

Hi gday2uk and thanks for the responce. I've done it now though. I did know about filling the bath before sealing, I was just slightly worried about the movement when empty. I'm sure, as you say it'll be fine when it's all cured. There is a little give in the floorboards, yes. This is OK...

Err, and how's that going to help me when I'm having a shower?

Really quick (I hope!) question about baths...

...How much should an acrylic bath move? I've just fitted one, screwed it into the wall with the two mounting brackets provided and screwed the 5 feet to the floor, but when I stand in it to test it it moves slightly. Not loads, but I'm not sure how much it should move. You can see it coming...

    Pushfit pipe removal

OK, I've managed to get hold of a piece of 22mm pipe. Now I just need to get the old bit off. I don't have a blow torch or anything, so is there anyway, other than cutting it off (can I do that on such a small piece of pipe?) to get the old bit off so I can attach the new bit, preferably with...

    Pushfit pipe removal

Right, I see what you're saying. Problem there is that I don't have any 22mm pipe. Loads of 15mm, but no 22mm! And I'd have to by a whole length for, what, 3"? And, if I were to try heating it up and twiddling it, I'd need what to do it? I'm assuming a blow torch of some kind? Don't have one...

    Pushfit pipe removal

Yes, I think my initial problem was buying it from B&Q, but we needed it in a hurry and so that's what we got... :( Doesn't pay, does it? Tut. I now have this: http://tinyurl.com/6hw277 Which I'm assuming will be better? So, you're saying remove the T and put a new one in? I was thiniing...

    Pushfit pipe removal

Bottom bit. Water's off at the mo so it's not obvious. powell30: How do you mean? There's only a bit of pipe I can use and it's got that ring bit in the way. That is a flexi tap connector on there and I've got another one on standby. Not sure what you mean by bendy copper?

    Pushfit pipe removal

You should get the idea from these. As you can see there's no room and there's that little rim bit too.
