Whaat happens to horizonal beams in a conversion ?

I've just been doing some googling and found this site and statement IS THIS TRUE ? http://www.stalbans.gov.uk/living/planning/faq-c.htm It also say 'expand accommodation. Does this include a bedroom ? Surely I'm not allowed to convert my loft to a bedroom (all-be-it without a window) ?

Whaat happens to horizonal beams in a conversion ?

Thanks for the reply. Right so they are there to stay.. In a way I guess I'm lucky to only have 2 of them. If I'm looking to do something up there is there like a general rule of thumb for working things out for example.... A bit like a FAQ ? Ideally I would love to do the...

Why is putting up a curtain pole so HARD ! HELP...

I've never worked this one out. How on earth are you meant to put a curtain pole up over a window when it has a solid lintel ! My Dad cheated and attached the pole mounting to the ceiling... But surely there is another way. I mean no drill or drill bit that I own is going to make a hole...

Whaat happens to horizonal beams in a conversion ?

I live in a first floor masonnete. It has a massive loft space, anyone 6Ft can walk around quite easy and quite close to the edges.. I am deciding on what options I might have in order to use the space better. To be honest, fitting a few velux windows would be enough because of the size...

Best way to create light switch hole

Thanks for the reply.. Yes I am really looking for something a little bit more specific. As mentioned I have solid walls, I know about putting in the box. Its just seems to be to be a messey way of doing things. Its time like these that I would'nt mind have plasterboard walls...

Replace CH Pump today.. What tools do I need ?

Dear All. After almosy dying of hyper-thermia last night :) I decided I cannot wait any longer to get my pump replaced. I noticed its got a stop either side, so I should be able to replace the pump without draining the system. Looking through my tool kit, I don't have anything that will...

    What Ladder to buy??

I live in a first floor masonette (flat). I have noticed along with many DIY projects I need a ladder. I like the idea of being able to share the ladder with friends, parents etc. So Ideally I am looking to get a ladder that will be transportable. I love the idea of a telescopic ladder...

Hopefully this post has not been closed down yet.... before I posted I searched on the word TILE and found a post that pretty much matches my question however. I have a NuTool tile cutter (cost £20 from MACRO) I set it up in the kitchen (again first floor flat) and water went everwhere in...
