    rebuilding a old coal house

You've not told us the dimensions on this area but reading between the lines I'd say it's absolutely fine to do as planned. If in doubt though - speak to your local planning dept and they'll advise you. Be sure to give them the dimensions though. :hehe:

flue into half an exisitng chimney

The house is an extended bungalow and the original chimney pot is visible in the loft still. I want to fit a wood burner - how could I use the existing chimney? Would it have to be extended to roof level or just have the flue poking out and exiting the roof? Any thoughts?

    Central Heating System Pressure

A heating engineer told me that some systems are like this for years. The biggest worry is the build up of scale from all the fresh water being continually added if there's no obvious damp anywhere.

Gap between bottom of shower tray and floor (about 4-5 inch)

Sadly I can't fit a straight down or 'inside the tray' one as there's a slight protrusion, I guess a curved fascia would do this, if they're made.

Can anyone identify this shower unit?

Sorry for the bump but it would be grand if someone knew what this was rather than having to fit a whole new shower assembly.

Can anyone identify this shower unit?

I think there's probably a washer missing from the thicker part of the internal unit. Any ideas folks?

    Noise through chimney

Just to update this thread - I ended up getting a brickie to put another skin of bricks on the back wall and the difference is amazing. It's quiet once more!

I see what you mean now - thanks. I wonder if it would still make a significant difference, sound wise.

    Noise through chimney

Hi Gary I was under the impression that it was backfilled right up to the top. Why would you only do it halfway?

    Identify my shower please

Hi Having severe problems with a mixer shower - the valve seems to be allowing cold mains into the hot water circuit even when the combi is isolated. So far it's cost me 1500 quid to discover this as the heating engineer is currently in my kitchen fitting a brand new boiler that we now know...
