Thermostaticaly controlled mixer shower + angry wife!

I was very careful about that - PTFE went on the threads only... Plus, when the cyl water temp is piping hot, all works fine. It's the lack of piping hot water all the time that is causing me the probs I rekkon? By the way - thanks very much guys for trying to help me. Wife's in bed...

Thermostaticaly controlled mixer shower + angry wife!

All the gate valves are checked and fully open, except the by-pass gate that forces water though the cylinder coil. If I open that one, all goes quiet, but then the pump just circulates water to and from the boiler by-passing the honeywell valve, coil, rads etc, so that is closed. I'm not...

Thermostaticaly controlled mixer shower + angry wife!

Sorry, by the time I've typed a reply, other have added questions.... Yes, the hot water comes from the top of the cyl. Yes it is fed with cold at the bottom of the cyl. I understand that the hot rises to the top, but after a bath a 1 hour of heating, the water is still only 100f (ish)...

Thermostaticaly controlled mixer shower + angry wife!

Wife has just made me add that the 'told you so' dance was danced to the tune of 'I was right'.... Anyhow - in aswer to other points. It is a fairly new cylinder with the usual high density 2" (?) thick foam insulation etc. Maybe the rads are taking too much heat out? Problem...

Thermostaticaly controlled mixer shower + angry wife!

The house is fairly new and is a pumped system with 22mm pipe almost everywhere. I'm no expert so please forgive me if I sound like a prat here, but the problem doesn't seem to be the quantity of water available, it seems to be that my heating needs to on for ages to keep it that hot - hence...

Thermostaticaly controlled mixer shower + angry wife!

Please help... My wife is doing the 'told you so' dance around the living room because I ignored her request for an electric shower in preference for a faster flowing mixer that I've just spend a fortune on. Problem is that unless the heating has been on for ages (hours) the hot water in...

    Can you 're-do' compresion joints?

I see. I thought that once the olive had been tightened, it work hardened and therefore would never be 'soft' enough to 're-mould' to a different valve body? You say 'remove' the olive? How? - It's innder diameter is now smaller than the pie either side of it where it has been tightened...

    Can you 're-do' compresion joints?

Some of the rad valves in my house are leaking from the valve body under the adjustment cap. I've tried tightening them up etc but they still leak. I want to replace them with new valves and/or rad stats etc. BUT THe 10mm micro bore that feeds them comes out of the wall at a 45 degree...

    Leaking push fit connectors

15mm copper pipe cut with a tube cutter. They are not the locking type, they just push on and are held tight with the little internal basket style ring with the small metal tabs in.

    Leaking push fit connectors

Nah, pipe cutter one end, and nice rounded over ends on the tap pipes straight out of the box. I was careful to push them on straight too. Just seems too hit and miss to me?

    Leaking push fit connectors

Whilst fitting a new bathroom sink / vanity unit, I had a real 'mare using push fit connectors on the flexi hoses. I made sure both ends on the copper pipes where not damaged, not scored, not corroded, polished with wire wool etc. I made sure there was no debris in the ends of the push fit...

Thanks guys, it's a baxi solo 40/4 RS. Removed the solenoid which turned out to be open circuit so ordered another one. Part GC 364 835 No offence to anyone, but I'll give corgi a miss on this occaison as I'm pretty confident I can re-tighten the two srews and re-attach the power...

No hot water - please help, we're dirty and cold!

I have a 1991 vintage fully pumped, conventional central heating system in a two story house heated with a baxi solo boiler in the kitchen. ( not a combi) All has been fine until this morning. When the timer switches everything on, the boiler won't light. The pump works fine, the flow...
