Am I better off buying the boiler myself?

I often get asked to install boilers supplied by customers. Always a no-no for me. The job takes the same amount of time so I need to make the same amount of profit, so labour goes up. I would also offer no guarantee. However, if I supplied and installed, any problems, your first port of...

New installation has certificates but dangerous!?

I carried out corrective work in a similar certificated system in a residential care home for the very severely disabled. Problems included: 6 bar expansion vessel oand 4 bar prv on the heating, open and incorrect wiring meaning the Icos would fire on occasions without the pump, etc. Original...

Adding pump to gravity HW circ

Just tried to take in the gist of what you have done. During hot water operation, are you experiencing any 'pumping-over' problems into the header tank? Also, during HW operation, are you experiencing reverse ciculation through the radiators?

    Central Heating not working

My guess is that you have a heating/boiler fault and is purely coincidental to the work you have carried out. Does the boiler fire for hot water? You may think you have hot water because the cylinder may have been up to temp before the fault became apparent. Model of the Elan 2 would be...

    pressure valve

Bit of a stab in the dark, mate. But iirc there is an auto air vent in the top of the heat exchanger. Possibly, this may be blocked or the cap screwed down. Sounds like trapped air to me. Do you get any heat out of it, or does this O/H stat trip early?

How do I wire this 2 port valve into system?

I've got the full ACL Drayton training manual here, every conceivable diagram for all systems and add ons. Did the course in the early 90's. Very handy, I often have to tell electricians what to do, as most don't fully comprehend the working principles.

    PRV and Pressure vessel

The boiler quotes a maximum 6.0 bar mains inlet. What I suspect is there is a loose jumper stopcock or non return valve before the boiler. This is allowing pressure to build too high as there is no expansion available. A pressure reducing valve above the main stopcock (to maintain balanced...

How do I wire this 2 port valve into system?

Sensibly thinking though, the OP should have gone the Y-plan route for 2 fully independent zones. I recently did a system with 2 UF zones and a 3rd rad zone. The grey wires from the MVs were wired to the external out on the boiler, the oranges back in to fire the combi. All the other...

How do I wire this 2 port valve into system?

No, because if he put the boiler into HW only mode the programmer would lose it' power and go blank. Ignore T3 and T5. All he needs to do is connect to T4 to fire the boiler!

How do I wire this 2 port valve into system?

do it all, the grey does not go into 1. The grey must go to L. Terminal 1 on an LP241 is not used. Nor is terminal 2.
