Using a PS3 Slim as a Bluray player can you recommend a HCS

Blasphemous, how do you rate the PS3 as a bluray player? Saw a friends the other day on his 1080p LCD and I was very disappointed. He already has a bluray player in his pc, but his pc is overclocked to the max, hence very noisy. This is why he bought the PS3. The quality difference between...

    Extending Sky coax

The important factor is Signal Quality, not strength/level. You can have a low strength but high quality and it will be fine. High strength and low quality and you will have picture problems.

Using a PS3 Slim as a Bluray player can you recommend a HCS

As you have a PS3, I personally would go for separates - AV receiver and speaker package. If you can get an amp which can handle TrueHD audio, it will blow you away. However, given your budget, this is not enough. Personally, I would save a little more and hold off buying a HCS. Why have a...

    Extending Sky coax

I went to Wilko's, bought a length of their satellite cable and f connectors (as mentioned above). I have Sky+HD and compared the signal strength before and after and it was exactly the same.

    Sealing Concrete Garage Floor

My father-in-law is a painter and decorator and I asked him what is the best sort of paint for garage floors. Like you, ours is dusty as hell. He said boiled oil (think it was linseed oil). Told a story from years ago when he worked in a factory where boiled oil was spilt over a concrete...

    Humming Veritas R8 control panel

Thanks all. I don't mind removing the panel, done it several times before (I know the engineer code). Will check the screws on the transformer and also make sure the case is securely attached to the wall.

    Humming Veritas R8 control panel

Thanks all. Where abouts is the transformer in the panel? Guess it's just a case of following the feed into the panel. Thank again, will check all screws are tight.

    Humming Veritas R8 control panel

Hi I have a Veritas R8 control panel, fed from the downstairs lighting circuit via a fused spur. There has always been a very slight hum from the control panel, but recently it appears to have got louder. Sometimes, a light tap on the control panel will stop the sound, but it then returns...

    Spray painting brass fire trim

I sanded down, cleaned thouroughly and applied a coat of metal primer, yesterday. That has adhered fine to the brass. Just given it a first coat of BBQ paint and it appears to have adhered fine to the primer. Previously, as soon as I sprayed the BBQ paint you could see the bubbling and...

    Spray painting brass fire trim

No primer, sprayed the first coat of BBQ paint directly onto the cleaned brass trim and it was a perfect finish. It was the second coat that crazed. I have since tried again 3 or 4 times now - rubbed down and cleaned (last time with thinners) and the same thing has happened everttime. Going...

    Spray painting brass fire trim

I used white spirit to clean the bare brass before applying the first coat and that was great. It was only on the second coat that the "crazing" began. Surely if it was the white spirit that caused the problem, the first coat would have reacted the same way?

    Spray painting brass fire trim

Hi I am having problems painting our brass fire trim and fret. I wiped the brass down with white spirit to remove all dirt / grease and allowed it to dry thouroughy. I applied the first coat of matt black BBQ paint and it looked great, a nice even finish. Once dry I applied the second coat...

Normal brushable paint in paint sprayer

Hi Asked this in the gardening section but may be better to ask here. I purchased a large tub (9l) of Cuprinol Ducksback to paint my fence. I have used approx half the tub but have now bought a Cuprinol cordless sprayer (half price in my local B&Q). On the back of the Ducksback it says...

    Cuprinol (brushable) in Sprayer

Hi I purchased a large tub (9l) of Cuprinol Ducksback to paint my fence. I have used approx half the tub but have now bought a Cuprinol cordless sprayer (half price in my local B&Q). On the back of the Ducksback it says "not suitable for spraying". Is this due to the consistency? Is...

Hotpoint WMA35 washing machine - noisy spin

We have the above washer. Over the last week it has become very very noisy on spin and now sounds as though there is a brick in the drum when spinning - although there isn't! When empty and I spin the drum by hand it feels rough and does not spin smoothly. Wondering if a bearing or...
