    Elastilon or Glue it down?

Sloop? New trade term? I get the point, I'll check it's level and if not I'll buy some levelling compound, hopefully it will be OK as otherwise this could turn into the project from hell :) I assume I can just level the affected area and don't need to do the whole room? You should be...

    Elastilon or Glue it down?

Thanks, so no need to repair or replace the missing tiles and then DPM followed by Elastilon, correct?

    Elastilon or Glue it down?

Hi, thanks for the reply. Concrete is OK, actually it's marley tiles with the exception of a 6 inch "border" of missing tiles around the patio door area. Would the Elastilon fill the gap of the missing tiles or should I either fit new in the gaps or take the whole lot up?

    Elastilon or Glue it down?

What's best, or easiest, for solid wood floor laid on concrete? I'm considering a solid bamboo, possibly the B and Q stuff but am also looking elsewhere, and using elastilon strong as this appears to be the original adhesive underlay, however other suggestions include gluing it to the...

    B and Q Bamboo flooring

I've just been to wickes and they have solid bamboo cheaper, B and Q recommend the adhesive underlay would the wickes floor be OK with this also?

    B and Q Bamboo flooring

I know mentioning B & Q on here isn't a good idea  Anyone had any experience of this flooring? Easy to lay or should I look elsewhere? Ta

    Condensate waste pipe

Thanks folks, even those who seemed to think it was a question designed to slag off the trade  If it's legal as suggested but not aesthetically pleasing then clearly that's not the installers problem. I'll know next time to discuss everything prior to agreeing the quote

    Condensate waste pipe

We have just had a new boiler fitted and the condensate waste is a small bore white plastic pipe which has been run outside and then along the outside wall to join up with the normal sink waste outlet, however the two pipe sizes are obviously much different. The sink waste is a larger diameter...

danfoss HSV3 3 port valve - compression fittings

Thanks, I was intending to use PTFE tape, I guess jointing compound is better? However some guides say don't use either on a compression fitting.

danfoss HSV3 3 port valve - compression fittings

I need to replace the 3 way valve on my central heating system as it is leaking from the top when running on the rad circuit only. It fits using compression joints, I just want to take the old one out and fit the new one, is it likely I'll need to replace any of the pipework due to the olives...

    Servowarm Elite 50 controller

Yep it's got a digi timer with water and heating settings for 7 steps, pink buttons for the igniter, pilot and thermostat and a small reset button, no idea about an overrun pcb though. The buzzing seems to be coming from the digital controller. So no servowarm = no parts = new boiler all for...

    Servowarm Elite 50 controller

Thanks. I thought it may well be the controller, I'm fairly competent electrically, Elec engineer so have no real worries about that side of things although not NIC EIC Registered. I can't seem to find anywhere to get the part though. Waking a teenage daughter is NOT an option :) I like a...

    Servowarm Elite 50 controller

My geriatric elite 50 boiler cuts out, or at least the timer/controller does, overnight, resulting in no hot water or heating first thing in the morning. Not good with two teenage daughters in the house, anyone would think it was my personal fault! The controller timer resets to midnight then...

New skirting boards, not flat, best way to fix and fit

Matty, Done as you suggested, took it back, they gave me a refund on the stuff I hadn't used and I then went to Jewsons and bought some proper stuff, the difference is astonishing. It looks better and it's flat. You do indeed get what you pay for :) Unfortunately it differs slightly from the B...

    Door thresholds, uneven floors etc

OK fitted the new floor, made it nice and level, one joist at the end was a bit low. However now when trying to fit the threshold bar at the door the old floor I'm meeting with is lower at one end. The expansion gap between the two is a bit wider than I'd like also. It's carpet on the old side...

New skirting boards, not flat, best way to fix and fit

Thanks. They are indeed cupped. Perhaps I need to go and get some decent boards rather than the ones from B & Q. I bought them in a pack of 4 and have used one so I can't return them, firewood anyone?

New skirting boards, not flat, best way to fix and fit

Thanks for the reply I may not have explained it very well, they are bowed along their height rather than length. The top and bottom sit out from the wall with the centre touching, in profile a bit like a bow. I want to varnish rather than paint so had intended fixing using "no more nails" or...

New skirting boards, not flat, best way to fix and fit

I bought some new boards but on unpacking them they are a bit bowed vertically, so they don't fit flush to the wall when I try to fit them. They are plain unfinished wood which I want to varnish so I could do with straightening them and getting a good fit to avoid any unsightly filler. Any...

    Floor cramps amd secret nailers

Done it! Hard work though, had a little disaster when I chiseled into a heating pipe, it was a bit like the kid with his finger in the dyke (albeit a much older kid  ) anyway I fixed the leak with a compression joint and then laid celotex under the floor for heat and sound insulation with...

    Foiltech floor insulation?

Has anyone used it? I'm thinking it could be an alternative to mineral wool beneathe a floor which is over an integral garage. The only bit that concerns me is the use of the clips on the joists to fix it as they would sit slightly proud of the joist and possibly effect the fitting of the new...
