Building a wooden dining bench with steel legs.

Thanks foxhole - I'll look into them. I haven't got a price for the wood yet (presume I'm best with Oak), but if it gets too daft I'll put it on the back burner for a while. Cheers!

Building a wooden dining bench with steel legs.

Hi all. I want to build a couple of wooden dining benches for our table. Space wise, benches will look a lot neater and fit a few more bums on seats (kids at least!). I was thinking of either using old scaffold boards (cleaned and sanded), or (more likely) bringing in some oak planks (cut to...

Thin stone tiling onto stud 'fireplace'.

Hi all. I built this stud fireplace last year with a combination of stud work (various sizes of wood - it's absolutely solid - and plasterboard), and then had it plastered before painting it up. Had the choice of either keeping it as it is, wallpapering it or adding stone tiles to it. The last...

Cheers. Just hope I didn't turn the battery on last year when I installed it (and thus discharging the battery?). Unlikely and the bellbox has never sounded/flashed. I'll keep it at SAB then, but will note it's current position (when I get up there). Many thanks secureiam.

I only have one 'Live' bellbox (the one at the rear is dummy). So, is there actually three options? SAB/SCB and LC...the manual (at least the way I read it) wasn't entirely clear. Given I've only one 'bellbox' would the SAB be advisable, or even LC if it only loses 2db? It's not like we're in...

Hi - I was referring to the Texecom Odyssey 3 manual. However, the Wintex manual is included as a PDF on the Wintex CD. Possible this could be obtained online also. Cheers.

Preumse these are the two sections of wintex which point you towards turning off the aforementioned options : Global Systems (monitor bell tamper unticked): Area options (bell & strobe output - areas A and B blanked): I guess I'll leave this off until the bellbox is connected up...

Thanks secureiam. I placed the bellbox (wired up) on the exterior wall last year...honestly can't remember if I left the battery jumper off...possibly it's never flashed or sounded during any stages of testing, but then again I took out the bell and 12V from the panel (originally looped in, but...

Update: Speaking with secureiam, I took the door contact back to 'basics' (no resistors). Connected up A and T wire to both silver reed switch screws (right terminology?) - received 000k on closed and >65k on open. Next connected up the 4k7 resistor to one of the silver screws. Received...

Here's the pic of the other door (back door) contact. The front silver screw (a little out of focus) holds both the 2k2 and 4k7 resistor. The 4k7 then goes to the other silver screw (congaing the blue wire) whilst the other end of the 2k2 resistor goes to one of the brass screws (containing...

Ok - when both resistors are out, I do indeed get 000k on closed and >65k when the door is open. This is show on the RKP. For some reason, Wintex shows this as 000k when closed but 100k when open (and reverts back to 000k when closed) - minor discrepancy?

Bit of better pic of that door contact (I'd since replaced the blue and yellow with green and black but exactly the same set up). Just about to try the contact without any resistors in (cores in a silver screw each). Can there be that much that goes wrong with these contacts? Bit of...

Cheers secureiam. I have my meter working now, but I'll try taking the 2k2 resistor out and reporting the results back. Then I'll try the multi-meter on the contact? Hoping it's a faulty contact and that I can pick one up locally (rather than ordering and waiting a few days). Bit of a bug...

Ok - back. Magnet taken off and placed directly on contact makes no difference (tried magnet on back door contact and it works fine there). I've taken the 4k7 alarm resistor out..wasn't sure where to place the alarm wire that was in with it? Should I place it with the 2k2 silver screw - in...

I'll take the magnet out the frame and press it close up to the contact...contacts are perfectly aligned but possible gap is larger than the back door. Whenni return home I'll take the 4k7 resistor and re try. Many thanks!!

Thanks secureiam. This is becomeng a royal pain in the ****! :? Sound good news (ish) that the cable most likely not broken (biggest fear). As a slight update, there was another 6 core in the RKP (spare). Just on the off chance I'd used the wrong 6 core in the first place (this was...

I think the poster at the top inadvertently posted on the wrong (but similar) thread. Ok - I'll give that a whirl secureiam. Could that possibly reset the resistor alert (so it should read 2k when closed) or do I still need to tackle that? I think you're spot on in that the resistors seems...

Definitely states secure and resistance at 6k. So (somehow) looks like, as you say, I've linked the two resistors together as the EOL resistor. Not sure how - both linked together on one end in a silver screw, then the 4k7 goes to the other silver screw (and green core which goes back to 'T'...

Back on Wintex. All zones now showing as secure, but Zone 9 Front Door (Entry/Exit 1) is showing resistance of 6k still. Noticed in 'Areas' - 'Options' that Tamper reset wasn't set for any area (A or B) - might not be anything worth noting? Would an engineer reset rid the 6k alert or is...

Hi folks - switched the green wire from 1st T to 2nd T (fourth in row of those terminals in Zone 1). 'Zone 9 Front Door' open message has now disappeared. However, in zone check on the RKP (can't use the laptop for wintex at the moment) Zone 9 is now showing secure but has N1, R1, 1 showing...
