Wiring a push-to-break switch with 3 downlights (diagram)

Hi all I've bought a 2A switch that will break the circuit when our wardrobe door is closed. I also have 3 x 240V LED downlighters that I'm planning to install in the wardrobe so that they come on when the door opens. Please could someone take a look at my proposed wiring diagram and check...

Had bathroom refit two years ago, now tiles are cracking

Thanks. The tricky thing is that the builder is the husband of someone I work with. That's how I got in contact with them. I spoke to a couple of people at work who'd had work done by the same guy and they were pleased (as were we, until everything started coming out of the woodwork). They...

Had bathroom refit two years ago, now tiles are cracking

Thanks guys. Hi Richard C, yes it refers to floor tiles. Looking at it yes the guy has definitely laid some some chipboard and then tiles straight onto that. It's a different project to the shower pump DIY. That was also rectification of another bodge by the same company :(. I'm not so...

Do I need to earth bond this airing cupboard pipe?

Most of my olives were brass unfortunately, I couldn't get access to this joint to tweak it properly due to the stupid positioning of the ball valve.

Do I need to earth bond this airing cupboard pipe?

What's annoying is chump after chump saying get rid of it when they haven't got a clue why! All they know it's 'that's wot dey told me at college m8'.

Do I need to earth bond this airing cupboard pipe?

I did actually :), while I was asking for help about how to plumb in my shower pump. They slaughtered me about it there, too. I've now learnt to only put it on the olive! It stays there though because to fix it would require a drain down (and it's not leaking, so...) I also put the gate valve...

Do I need to earth bond this airing cupboard pipe?

Hmm yes you're right actually, I'll check that when I get home. Or will I...since I don't need it bonded anyway there's no point. You can see where the paint on the pipe's been scratched away at some point, the earth strap must have shifted on the painted pipe at some point I guess. Anyway...

Do I need to earth bond this airing cupboard pipe?

Hi guys I've recently taken a 22mm cooper pipe down from my cold water cistern to the shower pump in the airing cupboard. My question is simply - do I need to earth bond the exposed vertical pipe you can see in this picture? The other (painted) pipes are already bonded as you can...

Had bathroom refit two years ago, now tiles are cracking

Hi guys Two years ago, we paid xxx Ltd. of Redditch several thousand pounds to have our bathroom refitted, i.e. they ripped out the old suite, re-plumbed everything and tiled. There were two builders, a plasterer, an electrician (though the pump was under the bath and connected to a normal...

Loft insulation - a suitable alternative to lagging for copp

Thanks guys. Yes that's tank lagging (now back on tank).

Loft insulation - a suitable alternative to lagging for copp

Because I've only just installed them. So you're saying loft insulation is a suitable alternative to pipe lagging, as long as I insulate below also? Thanks. Edit: this is the situation, if it helps:

Loft insulation - a suitable alternative to lagging for copp

Hi all I have a (currently) un-lagged copper pipe running from my cold cistern in the loft to the pump in the airing cupboard. The problem is that conventional lagging is going to be fiddly, with the pipe passing very close to several joists and support beams. Can I just cover it with loft...

    shower pump

Is it literally a few minutes? Possibly the thermal shutdown is operating too quickly, or the flow switches are faulty. How old is the pump, do you have the receipt and is it still in warranty? If so your easiest solution is to ring Newteam.

bathroom drain weld vs pushfit vs compression

Why on earth would he do that? That's like saying 'don't solder Cuprofit'.

Do whole house Pumps work on a mono hot/cold Tap?

They work fine, it makes no difference. Can you imagine if whole house pumps didn't work on mixers? They'd be nigh on useless :p.

Mixer Shower Slow Flow on Cold Feed

Is there a shower pump? If so where is it? Check the valve is fully open in the open position, maybe it's faulty. My bet is an installation issue of some kind, very unlikely to have air trapped in the cold pipe if it just runs from your loft to the airing cupboard.

too much pressure and flow from 3bar pump

Obviously, but ceteris paribus, higher upstream pressure = higher flow.

    15mm gate valve

Firstly, they're like five pounds...so just replace it. If you really can't bring yourself: 1. Nip it up. 2. If this doesn't work, undo nut and PTFE then re-tighten gland nut.

What's the low down on mixer flow control and shower pumps?

The cylinder 'stat is set to 55 degrees so I don't see how cavitation could be a problem, unless it's broken. I'll test the water temp tonight with a sugar thermometer, just to rule it out. Likewise with air, as you say I don't see how it could be a problem looking at my pipe runs, and I...
