Lean to shed roof long and narrow

Hello All So I'm planning my shed at the moment which will be a lean to off the house wall. Its 2.8M along the wall then a long 4.8M projection. So the rafters will likely be at least 5M. Like everyone, I want to keep the costs down. A purlin or purlins might be the answer? Would that be a...

    Timber Size

Yes 25mm short wouldn't be great. I was just wondering in the real world if I order a 4.8M length do I get a 4.8M length? If they deliver 4775mm instead could I get them to replace them? At 20 something quid a go they are not cheap.

New floor above the snooker room. Sorry couldn't resist it. You've been helpful to me in the past please don't hold it against me !

Its a natural material I guess. Not having a modest bow over 4.8M would be quite some feet !

    Timber Size

If I order a load of 6x2s that are 4.8M in length are any of them likely to be short ? By short I'd say more than 10mm short - i.e. 4790mm or less ? Now I know TP isn't everyone's favourite merchant but they are the only yard close to me so makes economic sense. And I know this post gives...

    Directional TRV

Hello All Bit confused. I'm resigned to draining down again as what I've done must be wrong. :( So fitted this (link below) and one of the Q&A was "Can this be fitted on flow or return?". Answer from manufacturer was "No, its directional so must be fitted on the flow". Well luckily mine is...

25a Appliance on Unfused Spur off 2.5mm ring final with 32a RCBO

Thanks EFL and note what I'm about to say will not apply to my installation as (already mentioned) I will be putting it on a fused spur and monitor it. If it blows said fuse I'll put it on a dedicated circuit. The below is more theoretical than anything else. The bit of the on site guide I...

25a Appliance on Unfused Spur off 2.5mm ring final with 32a RCBO

Gordon Bennet. Good joke but I think its on me as I'm definitely too thick to get it. So what is the conclusion? Are unfused appliances allowed or not and why the informative "no" to the first post?

25a Appliance on Unfused Spur off 2.5mm ring final with 32a RCBO

Interesting discussion. It would certainly be quite easy for me to add in a fused connection unit for that particular appliance. I do wonder what this means in the guide though. If non-fused spurs that are fixed appliances are allowed what is the problem? By the way, the instructions do...

25a Appliance on Unfused Spur off 2.5mm ring final with 32a RCBO

Thanks a lot for the reply. I haven't got the full bs7671 and I'm not an electrician (hence asking on DIY site) but I do have the on site guide 2018 which in section H2.4 doesn't seem to say unfused spurs are limited to 13a ? Although section H2.5 does talk about it. The plate seems to suggest...

25a Appliance on Unfused Spur off 2.5mm ring final with 32a RCBO

I know ideally it should have a dedicated radial 25a rcbo/mcb in the board but wondering how bad it would be to run a spur off the existing ring. Instructions say "over current 25a" and you can see the plate (and what the device is) below....

Selling house - buyers EICR report

Changing tack slightly, I would like to know why electricians can't be sanctioned (and ultimately struck off) by NAPIT/NICEIC/etc for producing a report as poor as this ? As is obvious, the greed involved could easily have prevented a house sale and/or made a significant difference to its sale...

    Is this a C1?

In Ireland or here? I have proof that nobody cares because I've done it myself and I'm not even an electrician. If your bills are being paid and you're doing it for obvious pragmatic reasons the supplier nor dno cares about that or the carrier seals being broken. If you don't believe me try...

Forgot to ask does it the pipe need ventilation in some way as a normal stack would be ? An aav on the 50mm upstand perhaps? And I'd get something like this?: https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/solvent-weld-waste-pipe/osmasoil-4s496b-solvent-weld-reducer-black-110-x-50mm/p/818080

    kitchen island 50mm or 110mm ?

Hello all Planning to extend kitchen at the back so that existing sink will be in the middle of the new kitchen on an "island". The existing sink drains outside into a gulley - that will be under the floor after the extension. There is a small 4 inch sewer running outside the proposed...
