Changing Consumer Unit

Thanks again guys. The rec said that they would have to charge a £400 works fee because the unit is being moved at request not because of a faulty/ unsafe unit. I will probably get a spark to wire in the cu (and maybe pull the fuse)

    Motherboard & CPU upgrade woes

I was only referring to one particular type of capacitor problem that mainly affected 6.3v and 10v 1500uf caps. This was down to the fact that the electrolyte was manufactured incorrectly causing it to leak out of the caps leaving visible gloop. In most cases this didn't happen until boards were...

    Motherboard & CPU upgrade woes

See here that is what a capacitor looks like when it leaks. I didn't mean leaking current. The main problem occurec around 2002 but some motherboard manufacturers are still using stocks of this old faulty capacitor type.

    Motherboard & CPU upgrade woes

I would also check for leaky capacitors as many motherboard manufacturers including aopen were plagued by capacitor problems causing boot failures. Even if a capacitor doesn't appear to be leaking this could still be the problem. Also it is worthwhile removing the motherboard and placing it...
