    Well we've not seen you for a while. Yes I'd deffo go with HVLP stuff. It's the only sprayer I've ever had success with. It's probably the deal you can get that makes a difference rather than a specific name.

    Personally I don't like Easyfill. It's way too soft and powdery and way too expensive. I get best results from using Wickes plasterboard adhesive. Used it for decades. Use a decent 11 inch trowel to apply it and there's barely any sanding to do.

    Don't waste time and effort on that tray. I suggest you google 'Window trim' and you'll find cheap plastic trim that you can cover the gaps with. Clean the area and stick the trim down with silicone. Cut at an angle for the corners. It won't actually look that bad.
