Thanks Deluks and oddjob,something else to consider. Dont have a rivet gun,think i will get one. Could maybe get behind the plate but would have to remove some interior trim in the boot,will take a look.Got loads of those nuts and bolts too in the garage!!

Without going into too much boring detail,i have some items attached with self tapping screws that have had to be removed,this has resulted in the screws not tightening up fully,when they were replaced. The screws are going into plastic and i dont want to change the position,so drilling fresh...

Would a halogen work light, on a stand,with 2 x 500 watt bulbs be suitable to light a 18ft x 10ft garage?.At the moment i am using a flurescent light plugged in in the house. I wondered if a work light would be more effective,there is only one window and the existing light is in the corner...

No,nothing like that in there,and as i say it only happens when the weather is freezing,even after a dry spell it still does it which makes it even more of a mystery!! If global warming continues it may just cure itself!!,otherwise i may have to consider a new roof.
