    Trap for high-drawer vanity unit

thanks for the reply and sorry for my late response. The problem I’m having with that is the shortest waterless trap I can find is the mcalpine one he posted which is still slightly too long. Im now seeing why maybe they used a flexible waste pipe and made their own ubend (like I posted). Is...

    Trap for high-drawer vanity unit

Hi all - apologies for the late reply, my wife has unfortunately been unwell and in hospital. I’ve attached a photo of what was there - I basically had to remove it to move the sink for retiling and putting it back in has just turn the thread - the plastic is so thin and cheap. I’m guessing they...

    Trap for high-drawer vanity unit

thanks! Unfortunately I think the top one is slightly too long and the bottom one looks hard to get hold of where i am. If I got a flexible waste (not one with a built in trap system such as the bottom) would it work if I bent it into my own shallow u bend?

    Trap for high-drawer vanity unit

Hi all - Bit of a wait to get a plumber round so was hoping someone could help. Have a vanity sink unit with two drawers, one that runs close to the sink trap. The previous trap has failed but was quite short, and I can’t find any as short. Even the ‘shallow’ trap sold my screwfix is hit my the...

    Rendering with colour in cement

Thanks for the reply - its so I can colour match it a bit more to the grey I have on the house itself. If I did just leave it though, and didn't add paint to afterwards, is that fine to do or will it be affected by the elements more? (Maybe a clear waterproofing is required after cement is cured?)

    One coat tarmac render

Desperately need to render a front wall, but can't get someone round to sort so was looking to do myself with some grey k rend or weber. However getting my hands on anything is impossible at the moment, but I have seen this stuff from Tarmac; anyone used that before? Considering I only need...

    Rendering with colour in cement

Hi all - I live on a busy road but have a front wall I want rendered in light grey. Because of the grime I would get i know it’s show up badly and from experience pressure washing eventually flakes off paint no matter how well it’s applied. So I’m wondering what the best route is for having the...

Painted gloss when wife is pregnant

Hi all - bit of a left field question, but I've just been painting my kitchen while my wife is in early stages of pregnancy. I knew that high solvent paint such as gloss is dangerous for pregnant women so I made sure I did all painting and kept her away, but now it's done the house stinks and...

Can a tradie really move my gas meter?

Hi all - Planning a kitchen extension and got a few different boys out to quote. I've got a gas meter annoyingly right where a wall needs to run, and it needs moving a meter or so. I've had half of the lads say they or a gas specialist they use can move it and the other half say only our gas...

    Roof moisture solution

Hi all - My house has a boarded loft space used for storage in my detached gable roofed house. Lately the condensation in there has been immense and is damaging all my stuff i've got stored there which has been gutting. The felt itself is really wet and dripping, while the rafters really look...

Replacing connector of flexi soil only

So my description before probably wasn't great, but here's a photo to show you; it's stuck around the pipe itself with goodness knows what; the cabinet is the vanity unit. As you can see there's also the sink waste going into that pipe. Also attached photo to show split.

    Waste stuck in sink hole

Thanks so much everyone - in the end the only thing that worked was ridiculous amount of patience and one of those narrow utility blades... thanks for input

Replacing connector of flexi soil only

Hi all - I'm refitting a toilet after some redecoration and was hoping to use the old soil pipe; whoever was here previously connected the flexi soil pipe to the fixed pipe in the wall and then plastered around it, so it's impossible to move without a heck of a lot of hassle. However there's a...

    Waste stuck in sink hole

Hi all - I'm trying to remove an old waste from a sink but after removing the nut and washer underneath (which was stuck down with loads of silicon) it's clear the whole thing is still really stuck down. Seems to be silicon under the lip on the upward facing side, then some in the actual hole...

    Removing Plumbsure 15mm copper pushfit

Hi all - Normally wouldn't shop B&Q but got a couple of 15mm copper pushfit elbows yesterday as was most convenient in a hurry and one of them is leaking. Pipe properly prepared, and closer inspection of the product page...

    Thin spanner for reducer

Hi all - I need to insert a brass 3/4" to 15mm reducer into a female pipe but the reducer's hex portion is too thin for a standard wrench. Is there some sort of thin spanner or tool that's required for this that I'm not aware of? Thanks (the gap is about 4mm).

    Fan not timing out

Cheers all - I tested the timer in a variety of positions and no matter where i turned the dial it timed out at 40mins. So I switched the circuit board from the old fan to the new one and all working fine! Thanks all - a dodgy fan indeed.

    Fan not timing out

Well I just mean that if its coming on with the light then surely the live switch is correct, and if i switch the two lives then the timer doesnt come into play, so in theory both switched live and constant live and correct. If there's a scenario when it can still come on correcttly nad not be...
