    There is a lever on the silver box set to 'Auto' it flips accross to 'mannual' and back loosely if thats what you mean. I have taken a picture of the pipework am just trying to figure out how to post it here

    Ive tried it a few times this morning, the pipe still doesn't get hot. The boiler stays on, though I hear a click after about half an hour or so then when I look at it its on again so think it may shut off to cool down.

    Nope just looked, there is nothing at all on that pipe to the cylinder, just a plain pipe.

    I didnt need to turn the stat up, the boiler is running fine whether switched to heating, water or both. It seems to be running perfectly and not cutting out as it was before. Yes the pipe remains cold, though all the pipes running up to the valve are hot.

    Well it only happened in the hall, though I assumed that may of had something to do with a smoke alarm which was fitted to run of the same electric supply as the light. Its never happened in the living room or any of the other lights before. I actually fitted the dimmer myself and don't recall...

    yes it does, boiler works fine on both settings, hot water does not come out of the taps though. The pipes in the airing cupboard are hot right up to the part of the pic you posted, their is a pipe running from their to the cylinder which is cold.

    ok thanks I will check the fuse in the dimmer switch shortly. On a seperate although could be connected note, do all light swtiches have fuses? As the bulb in my hall light (just a normal one bulb light on rosette) a year or so ago and that has never worked since also?? Could that be the same...

    Yes I do, the top one I think, though the box is turned the other way up. Also the pipes are all hot up to that point then turn cold from there to the cylinder. Is there something I can do to that fitting then?
