Must a shower room have an extractor fan?

Absolutely it would be ludicrous not to fit a fan, unless you love the look of black mold

    Chest freezer for outbuilding

Same Here, I always buy Bosch appliances, but on this occasion Bosch didn't make a chest freezer for low temperature outbuildings, so after a lot of research went for a nice big Beko. Had it for around 6 years and its been great an not expensive to run, and works well in my garage which can get...

How long will a tube of silicone last .. when opened

That poses a question I've been meaning to ask for years. What do you guys do to prolong the life of silicon tubes. I tend to buy a tube, use it once and by the next time I need it its gone hard in the tube. I've had some success with keeping the tube indoors (warmer) rather than garage...

    No dpm keyed into dpc

Is it usual to have such a gap above my flooring level and the wall dpc, wouldn't that part of the wall under the dpc cause dampness behind skirting, hence room smelling musty

    No dpm keyed into dpc

Hi when I look behind my skirting boards I see the wall dpc is about 3 cm above the top of my concrete floor, so as a result that's 3cm of possible damp sat behind my skirting. It doesn't look or feel wet, and there is no sign of dpm keyed into dpc, just bare blockwork under dpc. Skirting...

    UPVC Windows, poor fit?

Looks like it, some fool who likes taking his food on a hospital drip, tried to fit some windows for me once, I caught just after he had fixed a piece of cloaking to try and hide it, so I made him go back and remove them
