    Pole chainsaws

Ahah some good ideas emerge. Thanks John and Bobby Dazzler. I'm not sure when Autumn comes, that the person who does my hedges who has all the equipment, will be available. My hedges are 11 feet high and I am 6 foot tall. But I am over 80 and my strength is not what it was. I have tried the...

    Finding a judge's ruling

I wonder whether someone can help me. I refer to a recent article in the Daily Mail. It was entitled, "Former owners of £1m barn conversion are told to pay £300,000 after failing to tell prospective buyer couple that a Motel and Diner would be built next door". The DM link is at...

    Have I got a lintel?

I live in a pre 1780 cottage with solid brick walls. There is a 2'x2' window in a gable end wall (I hope that is the right expression). See the images both outside and inside. The last one shows the ceiling. I want to replace the wooden window with a uPVC one. As the wooden frame is so robust...

    Citroen rear parcel shelf

Don't laugh but I went to the council dump and left my rear parcel shelf or boot cover behind. When I realised this and returned it had been dumped! My car is a 2018 Citroen C3 Aircross. A Citroen replacement part YQ001402CY I am told costs £169 - a fortune. I found a used one in Europe paying...

    Microwave power settings

I have mislaid the manual of my 800w Hinari microwave. Model EMX710PSL. I have to microwave a car-dehumidifier when the sachet says it is saturated. It has to be at exactly 600w. The manual power settings on my Hinari are: Low Defrost I M Low II. Medium III M High IIII High I can't find a...

    Wiring from plugs

Crumbs I've opened a can of worms here. But very interesting to read so many comments. Thanks to all.

    Wiring from plugs

I should have explained in more detail. Consider a 3-pin plug that reduces the voltage down to say 9v. It's usually a squarish block. The lead from this 3-pin plug can sometimes come out from the top or the bottom. Just curious to know this should be so.

    Wiring from plugs

Is there a reason why electric plugs have their power leads coming out either from the top or bottom?
