Ignore the sockett, that is being moved on Sunday, and the raised floor to the left is getting taken out on Sunday too to make way for a slightly bigger superimposed hearth.

APPARENTLY, the Stovax Stockton 3 stove is suitable for 16'' openings.

It will be installed with a solid fuel flue liner by a hetas engineer as and when I can afford.
