    Oil radiator down

I use the small heater under my thigh while sitting. I suspect my pants would be on fire for a start. My skin should burn at 100C, which should activate a switch off action from brain. The 110C fuse should blow before 180C. The 90C thermal cut out thermostat should activate before 180C. The...

    Oil radiator down

I have crimps. Even if I didn't I can use cut up spade connectors to use the crimping bits. Solder should work for relatively low temp stuff like this. The easy melt solder needs 180C.

Back in business and parts on way.

    Oil radiator down

Yes, it's 110C. The unit has a manual thermostat, electrical thermostat, and then the fuse. Given the redundancies, it's probably just the fuse wearing out. Although it was a bit hot for a couple of days. I will get replacement fuse and thermostat. The manual thermostat seems ok because the...

    Oil radiator down

My little plug-in oil radiator went down and I found the fault on the neutral line. There is this thingy that's gone open circuit. Can anyone tell me what is this thing and what purpose does it serve? Also, is there anything else that could cause it to blow other than normal wear? I have had the...

    Dishwasher killing computer

It works, except the switch on control circuit. I now use manual control: disconnect from GPU, mains feed from off to on, reconnect to GPU. It was not in use or plugged when the HP monitor USB went down coinciding with dishwasher activity.

    Dishwasher killing computer

Checked out all other appliances and found nothing, and everything is working. The unexplained explosive pop remains unexplained. Will have to wait for more strange events before deciding if there is something wrong or not. For now, I will assume the apple monitor PSU failing from age, and the...

Ok, honestly I have no idea what they are. I just need them to work.

    Dishwasher killing computer

The dishwasher has 2 EMI filters, one parallel and one inline to the load. Both checked out in capacitance, and the parallel one checked out in resistance as well. The silver cap/filter in the second pic doesn't come with an ohm spec. The dishwasher is in perfect health, although the rubber hose...

    Dishwasher killing computer

I have been unable to find evidence of any filter explosion. Physically, the filter looks in perfect shape. The filter connects (gold spade connectors) to the mains in parallel to the feed to the other bits. My guess on the location of the explosive pop could be wrong. I will have to check the...

    Dishwasher killing computer

Piece of junk apple monitor PSU was poor quality. I will replace it with a cheap china one. The other interfered USB hub was on a HP business grade monitor. Since no permanent damage was done, I suppose the quality on that was slightly better. My PC uses a china PSU. Nothing on it was affected...

Why are you obsessed with pages? A thread should be as long as it takes, but no longer.

    Dishwasher killing computer

It was already proven in a previous instance a blown up filter did not affect operation of the appliance.

    Dishwasher killing computer

I am in for more luck. I fixed the apple monitor using sellotape. The dishwasher severely wounded the circuitry for tuning on the monitor power supply. Masking out the circuitry allowed the power supply to work again. That saved me a tenner buying a china psu.

    Dishwasher killing computer

It doesn't. I had a thread demonstrating one crashed in less than 10 questions. But it can deal with the simple stuff.

    Dishwasher killing computer

Thank you for your attention in this matter - my trump impression. I appear to be in luck! AI Overview Yes, EMI filters are generally bidirectional, meaning they work in reverse to block noise flowing from the equipment back to the power line, protecting the grid, as well as blocking noise...

    Dishwasher killing computer

Why'sat? I literally caught it doing that red-handed, 2 hours ago. The previous POP and latest USB interruption occurred at the end of the wash cycle where the pump completed pumping and heater switching on for dish drying. I would expect a surge of power consumption by the dishwasher at that...

    Dishwasher killing computer

Recently, I had a loud pop in the kitchen in the direction of the washing machine and dishwasher. The dishwasher was in use, and the washing machine was plugged in but not powered on from the front panel. As I had previous experience of this kind of pop, I knew an EMI filter was blown. Although...

    Legit MS Office?

I could have gotten it for £7 if I didn't mind a little increased risk. But going with a seller having high proportion of positive views meant the chance for hassle was lower. It's the first time I bought office as I always had free access in the past. So, £13 per lifetime was not bad. If it...
