Vent stack and soil arrangement on extension

I'll probably have to provide a soakaway for the rainwater then. I might put a short stack in the WC (over the handbasin height) with an AAV to connect branches to for grey water. I don't know of an alternative for the kitchen gully as the sink will be located under the window and the trap will...

Vent stack and soil arrangement on extension

There is a utility behind the WC so it is the washing machine drain on the left. Also need a drain for the hand.basin in the WC. The one on the right is for the kitchen and rainwater which is the current arrangement.

Vent stack and soil arrangement on extension

Yes, thats much better and yes the manhole would have looked crap there. I guess I was fixated on the assumed position of the current drain. Thank's for that.

Vent stack and soil arrangement on extension

I think I see what you're getting at. Does the attached arrangement look better? The gully is roddable.

Vent stack and soil arrangement on extension

I thought the same about the rodding but then I figured it would be as difficult if it were to go vertically into the floor.

Vent stack and soil arrangement on extension

I need a little help with the arrangement of the drains and vent stack. Please see attached image. The vent pipe has a soil, bath and hand basin connection to the first floor bathroom (not shown) and then goes through the tiled room into the roof void where it travels horizontally for a section...

Is a stub stack required in this situation?

I recently moved a bathroom into another room and the BCO made me put a stub stack on the outside where the soil pipe came through the wall. I am going to be building an extension and have a similar situation however, i'd like to put the soil through the floor and out through the foundation...

    Refinishing furniture

We've got quite a lot of furniture bought a few years ago from Oak Furniture Land. Most of it is still in good nick but the pieces that were in the kids rooms have aged badly due to them not using coasters for drinks etc. There are no rings but the finish has started to 'peel' revealing the wood...

    Concrete screwbolts into engineering brick

Just for future information. The concrete bolts worked fine in engineering bricks. Wasn't difficult at all when using an impact driver.

    Keying alike

I'd like to key alike some nightlatch cylinders and some euro cylinders so that any one key can operate any lock in the external doors. Is it possible to get nightlatch cylinders and euro cylinders keyed alike so that a key that operates the euro cylinder will also operate the nightlatch cylinder?

    Concrete screwbolts into engineering brick

I do have a decent Dewalt impact driver. For some reason I didn't think of using it for this. I was going to use a socket wrench!

    Concrete screwbolts into engineering brick

I wanted to get away from an expanding fixing. Maybe i'll try resin and studding (until I see the cost).

    Concrete screwbolts into engineering brick

Has anyone tried using screwbolts (Screwfix 6293P) into engineering bricks? I want to fit a bolt down post onto my wall which has blues as a solider course.

Electrics - what's allowed and not?

In the end I just had an electrician do the whole lot. Bathroom, kitchen, and adding new outlets in some rooms. I had to supply materials and it still cost £800. £400 for first fix and the same for second fix and testing. He had me over a barrel in a way cos he knew the job was stalled and other...

Electrics - what's allowed and not?

BCO wanted me to engage my own electrician to supervise me. Try having that conversation with a spark! In the end I found an electrician to do the work himself at short notice but it ain't coming cheap...and I have to supply materials and do the chases.

Electrics - what's allowed and not?

I think I ticked 'don't know' regarding who was doing the electrical work and I do remember a note about an extra charge. I'll probably try to do the minimum of electrical work this weekend and speak to BC on Monday.

Electrics - what's allowed and not?

I'm going to have to risk it and talk to the BCO on Monday Woody. I guess at worse case i'll have to pay for them to have someone certify the work. I think that's an option isn't it? I really wish i'd asked the question when he was there today.

Electrics - what's allowed and not?

Hi, I've moved some walls and doorways etc. I am aware that a qualified electrician must do any work on bathrooms and kitchens but what can I do myself? I have notified building control throughout the process and he now won't be back before completion but I need to close up some plasterboard...
