    "REFUTE"

Same stuff with Electrocution, I believe a dictionary or two states it meaning Electric Shock, I know language and meanings get updated to consider modern trends of useage but Electric Shock is Electric Shock, some might actually be Electrocution and some people can die because of an Electric...

What voltage should I recharge my battery at

With Burglar Alarm Systems etc the SLA battery is usually recommended on constant float charge of 13.6 Volts to 13.8 Volts if that helps, one common very simple way is to use a 12V Reg IC and three forward biased diodes on the -ve leg and one of those diodes has a shorting link soldered across...

    Two way switching

Guesses and Assumptions might often be correct but to rely on them to make absolutely sure. So your caution over following that guess is absolutely spot on and well done to you for it (y). Also, it is one thing to think what a rational person might have done but it is completely different...

    Extension cables and BS1363

A couple of respected You Tubers such as JW and Big Clive might see fit to produce a "How Not To" article for us?

    Additional CU

Gosh. And some thought that merely defining intelligence in AI could be a tricky concept! Makes the logistics of justifying a complete change of consumer unit and circuits from what existed to what is now in a set of predefined stages completely change from additions to renewals at the stroke...

    Additional CU

What about a MCB existing and being replaced by an MCB of different rating , does this qualify or not qualify as a new circuit? Ask ten electricians and you will get eleven differing answers I think. Mind you I can easily envisage both of you constructing a set of logical steps to comply...

Blanki g cooker isolation under sink to pass EICR

A Sat Nav must use intelligence surely? Mine told me that fastest time and how many miles to get from Lands End to John O Groats very rapidly and I had only actually decided that morning! How clever is that. ( My clumsy attempt of a Joke for the New Year) Seriously though the point about...

Blanki g cooker isolation under sink to pass EICR

Think about bonding ( if any or what size ) for a start then RCDs and zones of protection and indeed the very first regs were perhaps written because it started to become apparent that electricity could be dangerous sometimes, working live was second nature not long ago etc etc. Are somethings...

Blanki g cooker isolation under sink to pass EICR

Eric, it is either satisfactory or unsatisfactory according to how it compares with the regs in force on the day it is tested. Whether or not it was considered compliant on the day it was designed and installed is not relevant.

Blanki g cooker isolation under sink to pass EICR

No Eric, if something passes when designed but not by today’s regs then it today’s regs it gets inspected and failed to.

    Two 2.5mmT&E to a garage?

You could interpret that as two conductors ( with “fusing”) to one side of an isolator then two conductors out to the end yet along with a third conductor (forming a spur) is not allowed. Yet O am sure that is not what they Actually mean.

    Hager SPD (SBP015N) showing red

PS - Fluorescent Fittings , 5 ft fittings cheaper than 4 ft fittings, even though more metal and glass they had larger volume of production runs! Likewise - twin sockets cheaper each than single sockets sometimes

    Hager SPD (SBP015N) showing red

It is quite common. Not just in electrics/plumbing etc etc but in normal retail life too examples . Matchmakers 50p one flavour £1.65 a pack of three identical ) a long time ago that one) but recently Turkish Delight 38p one bar yet pack of three identical £1.45, catering ton of plum tomatoes...

    Additional CU

That’s a surprise to me . I assumed any CU is. Anyway whichever solution you choose there are always ways and means of circumvention including pushing it a bit to famn right sculldughing and in reality the only way you have a real risk of getting done for it is if you do it dangerously or very...

    20A mcb or 16A mcb

It’s not that long since that a 1.0 live conductor would have been a no no for a power circuit (such as a central heating boiler or an extractor fan for example - although if it was a lighting circuit with an extractor fan on it such as in a bathroom then the concern was less likely to exist) my...

    More electronics but..

I remember as a child (and I’m 70 now) the , to me, amazing kits of yesteryear. Meccano was well established and great fun with gears and even motors in the mechanical engineering field, my pride and joy though was receiving a Phillips EE8 (I think they also did an EE20 too?) using just a few...
