    cylinder with no drain cock

[/url] Nothing wrong with that. You'll have to repair the pipework to the bottom of the tank afterwards though. Those taps aren't a great long term solution.

Drained oil from a tank. How best to get it into our tank.

+1 Oil is less dense than water. It seems you disturbed the bottom of the tank a bit when you drained it off and got a mixture. They won't mix, which is good for your situation. As has been said, leave it to settle and syphon/pump the oil from the top.

my electric shower is not heating up

There may lie the clue ;) With the cold weather we've been having of recent it's not unknown for some lower KW showers to struggle in cold temperatures. A couple of my customers have 7KW showers. One wanted a straight swap for an old one in there, I asked if they were sure - Yes came the...

    Cold downstairs radiators

I'm wondering if there is a bypass issue here and the upstairs rads are working on convection, despite the pump working - ask me how I know lol! One problem I had with the old boiler that's just been replaced that the fitter spotted and I didn't (I know!) is that the bypass gate valve was...

    Cold downstairs radiators

The guy who installed the new boiler in my property (Holty) did a mains flush on the flow then one on the return, coming out of the valves of a radiator I'd removed. Unless the whole system is new, could the drops be blocked at all? If you open the bleed valves on the problem rads and let...

What will be better powerflush or Magnaclean

As an end user I have found that using X400 in a system that has had no attention for several years works quite well. I have a handful of properties and have just had one boiler replaced. After seeing what has come out of the system my next move is to run X400 in each system for around a week...

Hi, I have a 2 year old Ferroli Optimax HE Plus 31 C boiler.

I think it very much depends who is the warranty agent for Ferolli in your area. There's a guy around our area who is very good. He had just taken up the agreement with Ferolli when I called for warranty repairs the 2nd time after the first clowns didn't respond then wanted to take a week. In...

Who can fit a boiler for me in the East Cornwall area please

All sorted now thanks to Holty Also I did get a couple of responses from other members with the offer of help. I am very grateful for that, especially as my naive reaction to quotes I was getting seems to have understandably got people's backs up. Indeed when I compared the day rate that...

    Many Thanks to Holty

It was a pleasure to meet you, work with you and learn from you. Mark came up and spent 3 days fitting my new CH boiler for me. It wasn't the easiest of jobs and he had me doing some of the unskilled stuff for him. He also kindly set up the purchase for me, got the price etc sorted out and...

Who can fit a boiler for me in the East Cornwall area please

Yes I am that Cornish Crofter. Thank you for your condolances I can understand how you feel about landlords. Fair point. In the case of the plasterer concerned, he was quite happy with half a days work otherwise he would never have taken it. It fitted in with his schedule that day. I...

Who can fit a boiler for me in the East Cornwall area please

Well after my initial post I have come back here to try and put things right. Let me explain - there could be a lesson for all of us here. As one of you had so rightly pointed out I had been benefiting from a very friendly arrangement with a professional plumber who has become something of...

You're not kidding - I'll just have to weather the storm. I'm going to post something on my other thread, so pointless in duplicating it here.

OK forget I asked then. Clearly I'm asking this question on the wrong forum.

Who can fit a boiler for me in the East Cornwall area please

The plumber that I usually have has become ill. Normally I work well together with him. To do a job like this he usually charges c£300 with me helping, which I think it very fair, however this is also a conversion from an open system to a combi system, so I'd expect to have to do more to help...

Hot Water Working but boiler cuts out when CH is on

OK this is turning into a real PITA. Having decided to go for a new boiler and then deciding on the Glowerm Betacom 24A I then give the go ahead to my plumber to fit it. We hadn't worked out who was getting it but I was expecting to be charged probably about £300 to £400 to fit it with me...

City Plumbing cash price £468.97 plus VAT for boiler, flu and clock. So that will work out at £562 for the Glow Worm Betacom 24A

Hot Water Working but boiler cuts out when CH is on

Thanks both of you for all the help you've given me over this. I've contacted my plumber today who is looking at prices for the glow worm as we speak. I'll contact City Plumbing today. I've got a trade account with Travis Perkins who are of the same holding company. The only thing that...
