    Stuck Pegler TRV

Tnx, I have used my nicotine gum in the past to "glue" coins in decorator's caps in the past. Icky, but I also use nicotine gum to hold screws onto the end of the screwdriver when needed. Even ickier... this week a mate and I made a nicotine snowman. Absent of carrots, I made the nose out of a...

    Ceiling bumps / lines

I have never seen plasterboard do that before. Cracks are typically straight lines. Is it possible that they are concrete ceilings? You could sand them back with a random orbital sander (ideally connected to a dust extractor). Alternatively, you could have then reskimmed.

Wood vs PVC beading for engineered wood flooring?

In a rectangular room, you would still need to remove 2 of the skirting boards (opposite side and one adjacent). That means that the OP would need to rip down those two lengths height wise. Yeah, it could be done with a multi-tool but unless the timber is not very deep, the fixing cap on the...

    Stuck Pegler TRV

Many thanks. I don't have the decorator cap but I plan to use a 15m end cap with a washer. Would WD40 be sufficient?

    Stuck Pegler TRV

Hi all. I need to remove a rad tomorrow. I suspect that the TRV pin is stuck. When I open the bleed valve after closing both ends the water pee'd out I removed the head and tried to push the pin down. It would not move. The pin looked like it had black gunk around it. Should I tap it with a...

New drill set ? For a sparky

I might be exaggerating... having just checked, Tools4Trade say it is 4kg with the 5.2 amp battery.

New drill set ? For a sparky

TBH, when I first purchased the Souber, I was using an old 705W corded Metabo drill but the body is about a foot long and I found it difficult to hold the drill and move the Souber mechanism up and down. I have weak wrists . The cordless Metabo and 5.2 Amp battery weigh about 5kg, but it is...

    printer driver

Yeah, you build up posts before you spam. On some forums it creates a degree of trust. I have to confess that years ago I did something similar to promote a niche pet product (on other sites). It worked and our product had the first listing on Google.

Slope of bath waste into soil stack too steep?

I do not know the answer but will be intrigued to find out why that would be considered too steep.

    Tiling onto a mdf/chipboard carcass?

At a minimum, I would sand the laminate finish first and then prime it. SBR might suffice. Why not ask Mapei? Alternatively, you could use a MS polymer such as Stixall or CT1 to glue them on. That said, you will need something to stop them sliding down whilst the sealant cures.

    Repair wood chip wallpaper

I am a decorator. Fortunately, I seldom work with woodchip... I think the bigger problem that you have is the number of coats of paint applied over the original woodchip paper. As per @CountryFan 's post, a suitable filler and trying to introduce the texture might be better. Alternatively, buy...

    How best to repair/renew

Sorry Wayners, that really does come across as a paid promotion rather than conventional wisdom/practice, not all of it, but the whole StormDry stuff. I am not a pointer but I often paint exteriors after Colin the pointer repoints them. He uses sharp sand for the flaunches and any ridges. I...

    dishwasher instalation

Years ago my mum had a new washing machine fitted by Miele. It was free standing but it used d door over it to hide it. The rear bulge on the new one extended past the lid by about 20mm. I had to hack away the plaster to fit it.

The bit between worktop and wall - in a kitchen

I prefer the profiled sets. That said I have to cut them in half to get behind sink taps. Yours looks like it may fit as is.

    Issue with plastering or decorating?

I am a decorator, not a plasterer. It looks primarily to be bad plastering. Additionally, there are parts that look like the first coat of emulsion wasn't thinned sufficiently and pulled off as the next coat was applied. I can't be 100% certain about the latter though. I guess that the...

The bit between worktop and wall - in a kitchen

I seem to recall job and knock saying the up cut blades deviate on the underside. I have never used one. I tend to use my track saw and then a jigsaw or japanese saw for the corners. I think the other problem with upcut blades is that you need to prevent the jigsaw bouncing up. Probably less...

    Decorating and restoring fireplace bricks?

You can use an angle grinder with an abrasive disc, however, as is, it will be dusty. You could drape a poly sheet over the area and hide under it. https://www.toolstation.com/abracs-poly-abrasive-disc/p22693 Another alternative would be to use cellulose thinners to break down the emulsion and...

    Shed Roof Repair

As a short term fix, something like a small tin of IsoFlex might work for a couple of years. The tarp option- A cheap blue tarp will break down in less than a year, they tend not to be UV safe. The last one that I purchased from Wickes to build a temporary cover down the side of the garage so...
