Sorry, that was slightly unclear. Two rooms - living room, kitchen. Living room was the one giving me the problem we've been discussing. kitchen was the one with the unattached wires. I attached the cables in the kitchen as per your advice and was recieving current in the living room...

They were connected in the past, my mistake in not connecting up again.. I have now and there is current, I'm using a dimmer switch to this light and now I''ve connected all up, the dimmer controls the previous light which wasn't fully connected. not the one I'm trying to get working...

Ahaaa! So I know where the problem lies, just need advice on how to proceed. The kitchen has three sets of cables (Red/back) with only two connected (reds in loop, blue/black to brown/black). One set isn't connected to anything. Where do I connect this spare too?
