    sagging gutters

Dear all, I have a couple of stretches of guttering sagging at corners and overflowing. Basically, they need to be refitted with new brackets to attach them to the facias. One stretch is about 9 foot long and the other about 6 foot. I've been quoted £500 +VAT for this which seems expensive...

    Fitting copper tap tails

Hi all, Hopefully one of you can help a novice out. I just replaced my kitchen tap due to it dripping quite badly. The new tap was easy to fit and came with flexible connectors. However, I’m not happy with it because the connectors are too long and they are not in a completely smooth curve...

    Solving rising damp

Thanks for the responses. John D, it is a solid floor (concrete or something similar). As far as I know, the kitchen was never near there and nor was there or is there an outside stop cock there. Rainwater is kept away from the door frame by guttering, which is quite new and does not leak so...

    Solving rising damp

Dear all, I have a very localised area of possible rising damp next to my front door. On the inside wall, the plaster is crumbling off a little. Does anyone have any DIY recommendations for how to fix this. It's an old (150 yrs) house and so may not have a traditional damp course (i can't...

A bit of a combi mystery (to me anyway)

OK, Although I guess that there is a discharge pipe going to the outside of my flat, i can't see it. The wall is stone and not smooth (it's a tenement in scotland) and so it might be between a couple of stones. I also can't see where it exits the house as the boiler is flush to the wall...

A bit of a combi mystery (to me anyway)

Thanks. I'll hunt out where the pipe goes through the wall. The boiler pressure goes up from 0.8 to 1.3-1.4 when hot - never over 2. I guess this means that the EV is fine? I'm heading off to my wifes family over christmas so i hope the system will be OK switched off for a few days from...

A bit of a combi mystery (to me anyway)

Thanks a lot mandate. I should have said that the diaphragm was fitted to the divertor valve rather than the expansion vessel. I've looked at the pressure cold and then hot and it rises by about 0.4-0.5 bar when switched on. I wonder, however, if there has always been a leaking PRV without me...

A bit of a combi mystery (to me anyway)

Hi Folks, I'm new to this forum and am looking for some help with my combi. I'm no expert by the way. I moved into my flat a year ago and to be honest took no notice of the combi until around a month ago when i stopped getting hot water. For about a week a monitored the pressure and it...
