    Smart meter home display question

Suppliers get the smart meter readings via the DCC who receive the data via mobile phone or long range radio (South vs North/Scotland). One can sign up to Bright or similar apps to get the same data pulled from the DCC... That'll quickly prove if the smart meter Comms unit is talking to DCC...

    Identify 2 pin connector

Pretty unlikely on the sealed in socket of the underwater rover I'd suggest... without serious risk to that vehicle's water integrity. If it had been simple / safe to do, the OP would have accessed the internal battery/wiring and not be asking about polarity.

    Geberit cistern leak where?

I've had the cistern flush pipe connection loosen and leak... also had a leak where the flush pipe fits into the toilet... Cistern tilted would have strained both those connection points and possibly caused a leak. I hate concealed cisterns. But they look nice.

    Grohe kitchen mono tap stiff

I'd agree. Simplest way. --- and then you can attempt to dismantle the old one to access the cartridge and discover how that's almost impossible without damaging the chrome parts. That cartridge is circa £35 delivered from...

Select <edit> and rotate picture within the editor (works on Win11 Edge, other OS and browsers may differ). But the OP should be alerted to get it right... via @<name>...

    Identify 2 pin connector

I would not think there is an infallible convention. What voltage does a DC multimeter show on the pins of the underwater vessel? You could perhaps ask the supplier/maker? https://www.arkmodel.com/contact_us.php FWIW my wife's power wheelchair batteries have pin1 of a 3-pin XLR as +ve and pin...

Where on earth is my roof aerial?

Direct cable pickup. Not that uncommon. Used to cause a pre-ghost image on some communal antenna systems in analogue days. Not that reliable usually in the long term, so needs sorting. 18 miles is a bit far... I'm about 9 from Sandy Heath and room aerials work ok much of the time in the...

Fitting bike rack through dry wall

That's because it's not "drywall" or a hollow plasterboard partition wall. It looks like plasterboard dot-dabbed onto blockwork to me. You want different fixings: Fischer dot dab or Corefix are made specifically for the purpose; but long screws and long wallplugs may suffice if they go into...

    Replacement tube

Sure it's 400mm? 410 mm seems a commonplace length if including pins... and may find more results for old but new stocks. https://www.bltdirect.com/13-watt-fluorescent-smilight-tubes-warm-white-410mm-1 and...

Blocking off an unused 13 amp double socket

Get longer plate fixing screws. Affix blanking plate atop the existing double socket. Do one screw first, then the second. No need to disturb existing wiring that way. May not be suitable solution for a double switched socket though. Better would be to teach youngun that there's nothing...

How to do washing using off-peak?

OK you have me wondering, now. I'm off to fit a Meross smart socket with energy monitor to the Miele Heat Pump tumble dryer to know how much it uses from today onwards )for a while, at least). To be frank I had no idea how little the washer was actually costing in electric. The circa £40-50 of...

How to do washing using off-peak?

FWIW my Miele TwinDos washer is "smart" and has a 'report' that says we've done 16 cycles this month... 5.5 kWh in total and 342 litres of water. 9 in October: 3.3 kWh, 226 litres 19 September: 4.4 kWh, 336 litres. 17 August: 4.0 kWh, 340 litres. The Year total has 202 cycles, 47.4 kWh and 3...

What bulbs are what, and how to tell?

How long should a 12v Car Battey last?

Because the VAT man said they are only exempt if 'special' (i.e. in a case designed to fit the mobility scooter) or supplied and fitted by a professional as part of the service... Most mobility scooter lead acid batteries have other uses so aren't "special" enough. I've fitted "golf" batteries...

Is This Some Kind Of Backdraught Shutter?

I agree with @JohnD Mine works well. No back draught (even when the outside vents are rattling in a breeze) and it sucks the damp air out well (and quietly). So minimal flow obstruction, if it's even measurable. I do need to give the fan blades and housing a clean up wipe / vac to remove the...

How to do washing using off-peak?

You can not think I was being serious and Eric is far too Scrooge-like to fall for it. ;) There are three brands that do similar dosing systems but I've not looked at the price...
