Cleanest way of removing old loft insulation

Its old - loose fill stuff ?? I was going to remove it - worried it might eat the plastic cables, or am I wasting time and perhaps should not worry. It is a 1930's house so I have no idea when it was put down? It is `proper` loft insultation however, not polystyrene chunks or such?

    Water Key

Not to worry, I though I could go ploughing ahead for a key and then find that the 1930s property was going to need some `funny shaped` key instead :-( etc. sooooo I thought why not ask on here! Now I know why not ;-) In my actual industries I make a genuine effort not to think of people...

Hi All, Just about to move into a property that has a kinda fire/stove in the living room - I think it does hot water/rads as well as heat the living room. 2 Questions really, 1. Does the hot water cylinder need to stay right behind this unit (it is at the moment) or could the water be...

    Voltage earth leakage breaker

In a property with an old ELCB - can I simply remove the inbound and outbound earth wires from the unit (its not metal) and just use it as a isolator switch for the time being (feeding a new CU with 100ma RCD and 30ma RCD units. ) Yes, I will tell the local council etc - I think they need 48...

Same as everything else with UK house purchases - the particulars will just say things like "Not Tested", "Not Inspected" etc, Estate Agents and conveyors will prob not even care (never ever been asked about Corgi or gas services) Perhaps the only area effected may be buy to let - elec...

    No earth from supply company

Hmmm, it has three earth rods but only two are connected, and one is connected with bell wire  I will reconnect all three, the oil pipe is copper and underground for at least 2 meters so I guess that helps as well. Also there are two seperate metal water mains into the property so...

    No earth from supply company

On inspection the entire installation is on a 100ma seperate mains switch so I intend a split load CU with 30ma for sockets etc and just a mains switch for the lighting - hence leave it on the 100ma! :-)
