    Junction box with one wire...

Hi, I was inspecting wires in the loft earlier, as there are a number of dead cables that need removing. However, while up there I found a junction box, with only one cable going into it. The cable runs from the loft through a stud wall, just above the consumer unit. Obviously I'm...

    Bathroom tiling project

Bit of a bump, but I've now made some progress and am ready to push on, so a bit more advice on the floor would be appreciated: The joists are 7" x 2", spaced at approx 40cm centres. The joists run the length of the room (2.4m). I intend to go for 25mm wbp. I have read that the back &...

    Bathroom tiling project

Ok - thanks. Guess I'd better buy the adhesive next to make sure I know what else I need to get. Given your point about using quality products, are there any brands you'd advise getting / avoiding? It is a suspended timber floor, but fortunatley that is one bit I have understood all the...

    Bathroom tiling project

That's fine - will be tiling straight to the boards, so no issue there. Well each pack of 7 (which should cover 1.41sqm) weighs 25.9kg, so I make that about 18 kg/sqm, so should be ok based on the numbers above. In terms of primimg though - would that apply to MR / aqua panel boards as...

    Bathroom tiling project

Thats great - thanks. Yes I will be mechanically fixing all the boards - two walls are stud anyway, and I've already battened out the other two, and fitted insulation between. When you say no need to tank, would this also be the case for the moisture resistant boards, which would be...

    Washing Machine problem - repairable?

Bit of a bump, but thought I'd come back to answer your question! I've now bought a replacement, and have gone for the Candy EVO 1483, at a very similar price to the last one. Ideally i would have gone for one of the premium brands suggested above, but as you would expect, the options /...

    Bathroom tiling project

Hi, I've read the tiling sticky and various older threads in the forum, and would be grateful if any experts could clarify a few things before I start ordering materials. Essentially, I have just about finished stripping the plaster from the room. My intention if to use standard...

    Washing Machine problem - repairable?

Thanks - presumably by welded drum this means they tub, inner tub etc all come as one? Even so, can't get my head around how it can cost more than the machine itself though! Oh well, looks like the game is up! Any recommendation for a new one that will last a bit longer? The next one will...

    Washing Machine problem - repairable?

You mean on the block? The one that is out on the picture was missing when I opened it up - looking at the plastic underneath it must have worked itself out over time. I dont think the fixing hole is any good anymore, but need to get the block off properly to get a better look and see for sure.

    Washing Machine problem - repairable?

Back half surely, unless I'm being stupid? As far as I can tell the inner drum isnt damaged, other than a light mark where the block has scraped it.

    Washing Machine problem - repairable?

Problem with that is the bolt that has worked it's way out has done so by wrecking the fixing, so coupled with the one that has wripped the hole in the tub, I'd be left with only one proper fixing?

    Washing Machine problem - repairable?

I've had a look through the Whirlpool parts list, and it looks like i may just need a rear tub rather than the whole drum? If so, the prices vary quite wildly from £100 - £200, though I can't find the exact one, so have requested a price. I will see what they come back with, and if th price...

    Washing Machine problem - repairable?

Really? Machine cost over £300 just over 2 years ago, so would presumable cost around that for similar. If I was confident that it would fix it, I'd probably repair it at £100. Any ideas how difficult a job it is?

    Washing Machine problem - repairable?

Right, pictures as promised: The first two show the bolt that was completely missing: And this one shows the bolt that has damaged the drum casing Any ideas? Thanks

    Washing Machine problem - repairable?

Hi, I've got a problem with the washing machine, and would appreciate some views on how repairable it will be, and if it is, whether it will be cost effective. For those who are interested, it's a Whirlpool AWOD 6727, and it's about 2 years old. In summary, the spin cycle has been...
