    Installing concrete floor

Here’s a previous thread about this: https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/temporary-permanent-stair-support-for-insulation-ufh.650065/ I think others have asked the same question; search the forum.

Ceiling rose removal to "normal" connection?

Why use a three-way wago for only two wires?
  6. E

    Soil steriliser wiring.

Yes, and this is actually pretty common for things like commercial ovens. If you're going to try to use that, make sure you have RCD protection and consider what your plan will be if it catches fire.

    Is this chip board?

I know, I remember the thread. (Here: https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/asbestos-in-ceiling.652319/ ) Interestingly, at the time you didn't say anything about the "builder saying it could be asbestos flocking". Yes, STOP WORRYING. And stop googling things to worry about.

    Is this chip board?

Hi Beansbaked, This is your second thread asking whether some innocuous material is asbestos. That is very clearly chipboard. "Having stickers on" is not a sign of something being asbestos. Please spend less time worrying.

    Shower isolation

Thanks! I'm considering taking it out to soak in vinegar / citric acid, or something. It's a very hard water area, everything seems caked in limescale.

    Shower isolation

If it's upstream of the on/off, then I definitely can't unscrew it.... (I have now found a valve for the cold, but it will involve some filthy crawling under the loft tank to reach it....)

    Shower isolation

I'm looking at a standard bar mixer thermostatic shower. I'd like to remove the thermostatic cartridge. Its hot supply seems to have an isolation valve but the cold doesn't. Question: when the bar's on/off control is OFF, is it possible to unscrew the thermostatic cartridge? I.e. which of the...

    Plaster & lead paint

It's not like asbestos. It's cumulative. If you were a professional decorator, you would want to take care about lead to avoid a significant lifetime exposure. As a one-off job, you should probably take some modest precautions. I.e. don't dry-sand it, and if you do, wear a mask. Removing painted...

Any idea what wall filler is best for the job?

Not a great survey. There are lots of different fillers for lots of different reasons. Do I want a filler that dries in less than 30 minutes? Answer: it depends on the job I'm doing. Do I want a premixed or a powder filler? Answer: it depends on the job I'm doing. Do I want a filler that works...

    Kitchen extractor advice sought

Is this going to pass through your upstairs neighbour's flat? What will they think about the noise? Whose permission do you need?

Question about flex wire strands on plug terminal

Since no-one else has said it: it's normally fine to put the twisted strands directly into the plug terminals without a ferrule.

Can i get a gas pipe under the drive?

Well, obviously, you need to ask them what they propose to do - not some random people on the internet.

Can i get a gas pipe under the drive?

Digging a trench doesn't need fancy equipment and people trained to use it. Why do you care how they do it? The appearance of the drive afterwards perhaps? You could ask them what they propose to do.

    Boxing these pipes

Do you reckon you could remove and re-fit the coving around the boxing? What happens around the corner to the right of the picture?

Circular saw blades "for cordless saws"

@blup, I'm not looking for a blade for a cordless saw, thanks. I bought a couple of the Saxton blades as suggested by ETAF. They seem pretty good though I've not done much with them so far.

    Removing window security bars

A neighbour removed some window bars using an angle grinder and it has left nasty scars on the surrounding stonework where he overshot while grinding. I don't know if that was due to lack of experience with the angle grinder, or not. In your case, if you're careful then any accidental contact...
